Disney Fans! Mark Your Calendars for January 23rd – Something BIG Is Happening Soon

Do you know about DisneylandForward? It’s a little-known topic that could have some BIG implications in Anaheim, California.

While Disney World has plenty of space to expand its parks, Disneyland Resort is not so lucky. There are restrictions in California that date back many decades, keeping Disney from expanding in ways some Imagineers would like. But Disney wants to change those old rules! And now, Disney could be taking an important step forward soon, so here’s what you need to be prepared for in Disneyland!

On January 23rd, there will be a City Council Workshop and DisneylandFoward Overview at 3PM PST. It’ll take place at Anaheim City Hall, or you can watch it online at Anaheim.net/TV.

At this meeting, Anaheim City Council will be discussing the current DisneylandForward proposal. According to Anaheim’s website, this proposal “calls for allowing theme park attractions alongside hotels on the west side of Disneyland Drive and theme park attractions alongside new shopping, dining and entertainment to the southeast on what is today the Toy Story Parking Area.”

The proposal also calls for additional parking “east of the theme parks and potential foot bridges across Harbor Boulevard and Disneyland Drive.” The proposal does not call for any additional acreage or land, and instead seeks to “shift already approved development amounts across land Disney owns.”

If the zoning changes are approved, Disneyland could see new attractions like the ones in other Disney parks around the world. Disney hasn’t shared any specific updated at this time, as they’re still thinking of various uses for the extra space and waiting on approvals.
