There are lots of changes coming to Disney World and Disneyland in 2023.
We have new restaurants opening up, as well as a pretty major ride closure. And today, January 9th, we have several big changes happening on both coasts.
Several rides and features around Disney World and Disneyland Resort have closed today for refurbishments. We’re gonna go location by location to break down what closed today!

Big Thunder Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain in Magic Kingdom closed on January 9th for a brief refurbishment, likely reopening on January 14th.

Kali River Rapids
Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has also closed for refurbishment, This refurb will take significantly longer, reopening in March 2023.

For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration closed for refurbishment with a reopening date of January 28th, 2023.

Feature Pool and Whirpool Spa
The Feature Pool and Whirlpool Spa at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be closed for refurbishment through early April 2023.

Meadow Swimmin’ Pool and whirlpool spa at Disney’s Fort Wilderness will be closed for refurbishment from January 9th, 2023 through early April 2023,

Indiana Jones Adventure has closed for refurbishment, with a reopening timeline set for some time in “spring 2023.”
