Which Disney ride gets your vote for “needs to GO”?

As Disney fans, we know that people have some SERIOUS opinions about Disney rides — both their must-dos and ew, nos. We wanted to hear which rides you all think should be permanently retired, and we got some brutally honest answers!
With the Disney parks constantly evolving and changing, we’ve seen plenty of rides come and go over the years. We asked our Facebook followers, “What’s one Disney World ride you think needs to permanently retire?” and people were READY to share their hot takes!
One of the most popular answers, hands-down, was the Tomorrowland Speedway in Magic Kingdom. Lots of commenters pointed out both the major fumes the ride emits and the retheming potentials. Sammy said, “The Tomorrowland Speedway can go. Or make it Electric cars, so no more fumes, but kids can feel grown up driving. Make it Sugar Rush themed.”

Another ride that got multiple mentions was Mission: SPACE in EPCOT. Of course, Mission: SPACE is notorious for triggering motion sickness for many guests, considering the intense nature of the attraction. But some people also nominated the ride in the hopes that its predecessor would return instead! Cheryl said, “Mission: SPACE, bring back Horizons in some form.”

Speaking of EPCOT rides people want back, there was also lots of support for retiring Frozen Ever After and reverting the attraction back to Maelstrom. Jim said, “Just turn Frozen back into Maelstrom. Problem solved.” The comment has hundreds of likes, so we know they’re not alone!

People also mentioned rides that are fairly basic and seem like a rehash of other rides around the parks. Take Corey’s example, “Aladdin’s Magic Carpets. I get it, but you have Dumbo so what’s the point other than a theme filler?”

We also enjoyed seeing people’s hot takes about rides they know are popular, but they personally have beef with! Shannon nominated “it’s a small world”, “Unpopular opinion loading….It’s A Small World!!! The things that nightmares are made of!!!”

Speaking of the things nightmares are made of, Chris also requested a revamp, rather than a retirement, of Space Mountain. “A revamp of Space Mountain so you don’t need a chiropractor after you ride it.” We definitely know the feeling of debating whether we should risk sacrificing our bodies for a ride on this classic coaster, so we’re right there with ya!

From rides that replaced classic favorites to underwhelming attractions taking up valuable park space, our readers had some strong opinions on which rides they’d nominate for permanent retirement. Let us know which ride you’d add to the list!
