CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Disney Is Still Fixing Toy Story Land

Construction is a common theme at Hollywood Studios right now. Monstropolis is rising out of what used to be Muppet Courtyard, the former Star Wars Launch Bay is being transformed into a new version of the Magic of Disney Animation, and the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster is in its final months of operation before being Muppet-ized. However, there’s another — comparatively smaller — project happening in Toy Story Land.

Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

I’ve been writing about Disney theme parks for over 7 years, and over that time, I’ve seen several new lands open at the resort, few of which have elicited quite the same amount of mixed reactions as Toy Story Land. Since the Hollywood Studios version of the land opened in 2018, some fans have expressed complaints about the land’s lack of shade and its general theming, while others have countered that it’s a perfect land for kids and presents a better ride selection than similar lands in Paris and Hong Kong. Whichever side of the debate you fall on, it’ll likely be of interest to you to know that there are currently several construction projects happening in the land.

For the last several months, we’ve been observing a construction project in the land, not far from the entrance to Galaxy’s Edge. In early October, Disney filed a new permit to “install set elements” in the area, indicating that they were getting ready to theme it to the land. Now, our latest trip to the park seemed to reveal some of that theming.

It looks so cute!

Due to the size of the project, it seemed to us that it was going to be a snack booth, and our look at the construction rising above the walls would appear to verify that, as the structure is themed as a turned-over popcorn bucket, and has “and snacks” scrawled on it in faux handwriting.

Popcorn…

This would seemingly indicate that this new snack stand will be popcorn-centric, or at least feature dishes with an element of popcorn.

We can see the writing!

There’s also construction going on across from the new presumed snack stand, which could be for a small seating area tied to the stand, or simply more placemaking in the land.

While bigger projects are happening across the park, Disney is still working on Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Disney World’s ongoing projects.
