My favorite part of essentially any theme park are the rides — always have been and (hopefully) always will be!

When I went to Epic Universe, I was most excited to ride all the new attractions and see if they lived up to the hype surrounding them. I’m happy to say that I was SUPER impressed by all the rides and had the time of my life on each one, but there was something in particular that I REALLY appreciated being someone who wears glasses!
My number one pet peeve with rides ANYWHERE is 3D glasses. Now, I don’t mind them for 3D or 4D shows as much because I’m not moving around and at risk of my own glasses or the 3D glasses falling off my head, but on rides? Nope, it’s a huge no-go for me.

Thankfully, my eyesight isn’t terrible, but it changes enough when I take off my glasses that it becomes pretty obvious something is different ASAP. I’m near-sighted, which means objects further away from me are blurry, so I prefer to keep my glasses on during rides so I can get the full effect (unless it’s a roller coaster and they’re at risk of flying off my face — I’m looking at you, Stardust Racers).

However, this means that trying to juggle both pairs of glasses is a hassle and never turns out well — last time I rode Gringotts, those 3D glasses DID fly straight off my face! Thankfully they landed in my lap, but it could have gotten really bad, really fast. So I either have to only wear the 3D glasses and not experience the full ride because my vision is blurry, or deal with them both and risk them falling off.

But Epic Universe TOTALLY WINS in this department, because there are NO RIDES with any type of 3D glasses! The closest you get to them is on Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, but since that screen clips into the sides of your visor, you can wear your glasses with no issues. It was a GAME CHANGER for me!

Seriously, it was so nice to be able to enjoy everything effortlessly without having to juggle two pairs of glasses or watch something through blurry vision. So if you’re a glasses person like I am (who avoids contacts at all costs because I do NOT trust myself to shove my finger in my eye), you’ll run into very few issues in that department in this park.

I loved the contacts comment! “Sticking your finger in your eye…” 🙂
It’s true, haha! I even struggle to put in eye drops — my hand-eye coordination is NOT good enough for contacts!
