Everyone Agrees THIS Is The Most Disappointing Ride In Disney World

Disney World has over five dozen attractions to enjoy across its four theme parks, and they’re all of various types.

Kali River Rapids

Some, like Dumbo, are family-friendly rides that are perfect for young kiddos or those craving some nostalgia. Others, like TRON Lightcycle / Run, are roller coasters that are for the thrill seekers. Then you’ve got relaxing boat rides like “it’s a small world” and Na’vi River Journey, but there’s ONE ride in Disney World that’s unique in its own way. It’s the only water raft ride in the entire resort (but not the only water ride!), but the team and I are in agreement — it’s the most disappointing ride in Disney World.

Kali River Rapids is located in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom, and when I asked the team what the most disappointing ride in Disney World was, this was the attraction that immediately came to all of our minds.

Kali River Rapids

Don’t get me wrong: I LOVE a good raft ride! I’m a water ride gal through and through — I’m always sad when Thunder River is closed at Six Flags over in Georgia (the closest theme park to me) — and I know Quincy is the same way! She’s almost always down for a water ride (her own words), especially when it’s summer. However, she feels the reason Kali is the worst is that it totally underwhelms you. You go up a big lift, feel like you’re about to go on an exciting adventure, and then you just…don’t. You flatten out and travel along a peaceful, straight path for about three minutes, then have ONE large drop, and that’s it.

She’s said that every time she rides, the kids and/or teens she’s with always go, “That’s it?” And I couldn’t agree more! When you think of a raft ride, you think of rushing rapids and water spraying everywhere as you dip and dive all over the place. That’s far from what Kali River Rapids is, and it’s just a huge letdown.

Other fellow coworkers of mine shared that their biggest issue with it is that it’s SUCH a short ride for how long it takes to load. While this ride is an omnimover, meaning it doesn’t stop moving, the loading zone is as slow as molasses. Yes, it’s to ensure everyone can get on safely, but most of the time, you’re buckled in and ready to go…and then have a solid minute before you even reach the water.

Another big point that I agree with wholeheartedly is that the theming doesn’t match Animal Kingdom AT ALL. In fact, the theming is almost entirely nonexistent unless you look very closely, which is when you find that the theming is logging/the dangers of logging. Other than how logging affects animals in the wild (but there are NO ANIMALS in the ride, not even animatronics), there’s no relation to Animal Kingdom.

We are all in agreement that we think this ride could benefit from a massive retheme. Add in some animatronics or some standstill characters to give us something to look at! Basically, give us anything other than what we have right now, we’re begging.
