There is no shortage of options when it comes to dining in Disney World. You can find something for just about anyone. You can find luxury dining experiences, dining with views, and you can also find some heavily themed dining experiences.

Today, we are heading to a heavily themed restaurant experience, and it is all about dinosaurs! Yep, you will be fully immersed in a dinosaur-filled land, complete with robotic dinosaurs. We are heading over to T-Rex Restaurant in Disney Springs, and you all are coming along with us.
Background
T-Rex Restaurant is a sister restaurant to Rainforest Cafe, which are owned by Landry’s. If you have ever been to a Rainforest Cafe before, then you kind of know what to expect inside of T-Rex Restaurant.

T-Rex is like a Rainforest Cafe, but instead of the rainforest, you are taken straight back to the time of the dinosaurs. You will come face to face with all sorts of dinosaurs during your meal, and you may even get caught in the middle of a meteor shower!

Here’s what you need to know about dining at this restaurant.
Atmosphere
Fair warning, that it will feel a bit chaotic in the dining area, so be prepared. There will be lots of movement, lights, and sounds. It is all part of the experience, but it can be a bit overwhelming depending on the person.

The restaurant features four different dining areas that each have a specific theme. You will find the Sequoia Room, Ice Cave, Geo-Tech Dining, and Coral Reef Dining. They are all decorated to the max, and you never know what you might find lurking around a corner.

This is a great spot for those who love dinosaurs, or have kids who love dinosaurs, but if you’re looking for a quiet meal, this is NOT the place for you. But enough about that, what are we eating?!
Food & Drinks
To drink, we picked up the Journey to the Center for $13. It is made with Don Q Cristal Rum, Cruzan Mango Rum, Cruzan Strawberry Rum, triple sec, fruit juices, and Finest Call Grenadine.

This drink reminds us of fruit punch — it’s very fruity with strong notes of cherry and orange, and hints of strawberry. It’s definitely on the sweet side, and there isn’t much tart at all to balance it out, so you will want to like sweet drinks. We didn’t taste much alcohol, but it is stronger than it seems, so beware!

We started off with the Buffalo Chicken Dip appetizer for $16.99. It is made with shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, cream cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, cheddar, bleu cheese crumbles, and tortilla chips.

Honestly, there is so much to love about this dip. It’s exactly what it says it is — buffalo chicken goodness in dip form served with tortilla chips. It’s served warm, and it is ooey, gooey, creamy, and delicious. There’s shredded chicken, blue cheese, and plenty of buffalo flavor, meaning it does have a bit of kick to it, so it wouldn’t be good if you don’t want any spice. It was honestly hard to stop eating it, but we knew we had to save room for the rest of our meal.

For our meal, we got the Boneyard Buffet for $35.99. This is Fire-Roasted Rotisserie Chicken, slow-roasted St. Louis style pork spareribs, seasoned fries, and coleslaw.

The ribs here were surprisingly good! The meat was super tender and was falling off the bone — to the point where it made taking pics and videos really difficult. There is a nice crust on the outside, and it is smothered in BBQ sauce, which is on the sweeter side. Unfortunately, the chicken was on the dry side, which was disappointing, especially because it’s so big.

The coleslaw was coleslaw — it was nothing special, but good. It was sweet, had a crunch to it, and wasn’t anything we were disappointed by. The fries were underneath the chicken and ribs, so they got a bit soggy. Honestly, we recommend moving them out of the way when you first get the dish so you avoid the sogginess.

For dessert, we grabbed the Abrictosaurus Apple Crisp for $13.99. It is made with Granny Smith apples, buttery crumble, salted caramel sauce, and whipped topping.

Overall, this was tasty! The apples were tender, and it wasn’t super saucy in the filling. The crumble was really tasty — it was crispy and full of spices, with especially lots of cinnamon. We wish there was a bit more as the slice was really thick, but the crumble was lacking a bit, as was the ice cream.
Magic or Tragic?
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You, or your kiddos, love dinosaurs
- You’re looking for a fun, decent meal, and don’t mind loud noises
- You want one of the most uniquely themed meals in Disney World
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You don’t do well with loud noises and/or are easily overstimulated
- You’re not into dinosaurs or themed meals
- You’re not already in Disney Springs
- You want a more adventurous meal. The food here is fine, but nothing to write home about.
T-Rex Restaurant
Services: Table Service
Overall, we were impressed by the food — more than we expected to be! It was good but not anything special. However, the atmosphere of this restaurant is going to make it VERY hard for certain people and/or families to visit, while simultaneously making it fantastic for others. You’ll really want to decide if a LOUD and overstimulating meal is worth the theming and good eats — if it is, then give it a try!

In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news and more!
