Disney’s new pirate lounge is almost ready to be “a welcoming haven for all pirate-kind—from seasoned swashbucklers to budding buccaneers.” We’re still a few days away from the opening of the Beak and Barrel, but we’re here taking a sneak peek at the food and drinks you can enjoy during your time here.

The menu features “tasty options for pirates of all ages” and “refreshing cocktails for Guests ages 21 and up.” When it comes to bites, we checked out a few things! We grabbed the Island Provisions, which will cost $16.00. It’s made with Plantain Chips, Blue Corn Tortillas, and Toasted Flatbread served with Mango Chutney, Garlic Chimichurri, Spiced Guava, and Zesty Cilantro Cream Dips. First, when they bring out the dish, the crew does a little pirate chant thing.

Island Provisions

The Zesty Cilantro Cream Dip tasted a lot like ranch, but a little modified. The Mango Chutney dip is fruity and tangy at first, but then you get hit with a bit of savory flavor at the end. The Spiced Guava had an almost-sweet barbecue sauce flavor. Finally, the Garlic Chimichurri was very garlicky. The plantain chips and blue corn tortilla chips are fine. We didn’t get a chance to try the naan bread, though. Stay tuned for our review!

Dips

Next is Cook’s Corn Griddle Cakes with Chipotle-braised Chicken for $14.00. It’s Warm Corn Cakes stuffed with Melted Cheese, Lime Sour Cream, Chili Peppers, and Cotija. Want something different? There’s also Cook’s Corn Griddle Cakes with Roasted Corn and Poblano Peppers for $12.00. These are made with Warm Corn Cakes stuffed with Melted Cheese, Lime Sour Cream, Chili Peppers, and Cotija.

For adventurous eaters, you can grab the Kraken’s Catch for $18.00. It’s Octopus Tentacles marinated in Lemon and Lime Juice with Olives, Bell Peppers, Avocado, and Piquillo Pepper-Almond Foam.

If you want a refreshing, non-alcoholic beverage, there are two options. First is the Cursed Treasure for $7.75. It features an indulgent blend of Coconut Milk and Cookie Crumbs topped with Vanilla Foam and Pirate’s Gold. It tastes like a cream soda because it’s creamy, but it’s not a soda. It also has a bit of toasted flavor, plus the cookie crumbs on top are a little like shortbread. It’s something different, and we appreciate that.

Cursed Treasure

The second is the Treasure Trove for $13.75. It’s a mysterious Ube, Lemon, and Coconut Concoction served with a Vanilla Cake Plank, Chocolate Cannonball, and Golden Caramel Popcorn. The drink is more of an Ube lemonade with a bit of sweetness and a hint of nuttiness. The Vanilla Cake Plank didn’t have a lot of flavor and was pretty standard. The Chocolate Cannonball was a chocolate ganache, very thick on the outside with a kind of cake texture on the inside. The caramel popcorn tasted fresh, as if it had just been popped and then tossed in fresh caramel. But it is very sticky.

If you need a little something stronger, you can grab several options, including cocktails, beer, and wine! First, for $20 is the  Siren’s Whisper, $20.00. It’s Pot & Column Still White Rum Blend, Bols Blue Curaçao Liqueur, Combier Crème de Pêche de Vigne Liqueur, Lime, and Cinnamon.

The Lit Fuse is $18.50 and is made with Los Siete Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal, Tempus Fugit Crème de Banane Liqueur, Coconut Water, Lime Juice, and Hella Cocktail Co. Smoked Chili Bitters.

Finally, what’s a Disney lounge without a cool mug? The Plunderer’s Punch will be $46.00, and it’s made with The Kraken Black Spiced Rum, Blackberry, Lime, and Vanilla served in a Souvenir Pirate Skull Mug. We had a choice between the alcoholic drink, which is served in the pirate skull mug, or the non-alcoholic version of the drink. The pirate head mug, though, won it for us. It’s gorgeous and holds quite a bit of drink. The drink itself is lighter than we expected. The vibe is fruity and tropical.
