If you’re looking to kick back with great drinks and island vibes without ever leaving Disney, I know the PERFECT spot to unwind and snack in style.

Here at AllEars, we know all the ins and outs of Disney restaurants — including where you should definitely eat, and where you should skip. We recently stopped by Tambu Lounge at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and are bringing you our FULL review!
Background
Tambu Lounge has been a lasting fixture at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort since the resort first opened alongside Walt Disney World in 1971, making it one of the last remaining elements of the original Great Ceremonial House.

Situated on the mezzanine level adjacent to ‘Ohana, Tambu Lounge has maintained its iconic island‑themed ambiance and remains a nostalgic touchstone for visitors seeking classic Polynesian atmosphere in a relaxed setting.
Here’s what you need to know about dining at this restaurant.
Atmosphere
Nestled just off the lobby of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Tambu Lounge offers a warm, island-inspired retreat with tropical vibes and laid-back charm.

The space feels like a cozy corner of paradise, filled with rich wood accents, tiki touches, and an inviting glow that makes it the perfect place to unwind. Whether you’re sipping a classic Lapu Lapu served in a fresh pineapple or snacking on ‘Ohana favorites like the legendary noodles and wings, Tambu Lounge effortlessly captures the spirit of aloha with every detail.

But enough about that, what are we eating?!
The biggest food draw of this spot is that you can order some of the same food you can get at ‘Ohana without having to sit down and pay the hefty ‘Ohana price. We will say, you’re not going to get as much of the food as you’d get at ‘Ohana (clearly), but if you just want a taste of ‘Ohana, this is the spot to be!
Food & Drinks
First up, we grabbed the Pot Stickers for $13.50. This is made with Pork and Vegetable Dumplings tossed in a Chili-Garlic Sauce. These are nice and crispy on the outside, but juicy and tender on the inside. They are nicely seasoned and have lots of great flavor.

You can also opt for the peanut sauce if you want that instead of the chili-garlic sauce.

We also grabbed the Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings for $15. These are absolutely fantastic. They’re sweet and sticky and oh, so good. You also get a good portion size, so this is overall a great option.

Each wing is also well-cooked, making them juicy and tender.

We also knew to ask about the secret menu options here! These babies aren’t on the official menu, so you will have to ask your server about them specifically. So, of course, that meant we grabbed ‘Ohana Noodles for $13.50. These are the classic ‘Ohana noodles you know and love, and you can get them here without a dining reservation.

These noodles have a nice soy flavor plus a bit of tossed veggies on top. These noodles are famous for a reason.

Speaking of secret menu items, you can also get the classic ‘Ohana Bread Pudding here for $13. It’s served À la mode with Homemade Caramel Sauce. It’s perfection. It’s moist and dense, and then you’ve got that vanilla bean ice cream that just adds an additional creaminess.

The caramel sauce has a toasted flavor, plus you’ve got sweet sticky pineapples in it that are chewy and juicy. It’s also so rich and sweet that one piece could be shareable.

For our drink, we ordered the Lapu Lapu for $21. It’s made with Plantation Original Dark Rum, Orgeat (Almond), and Tropical Fruit Juices, and it’s served in a Fresh Pineapple topped with Gosling’s 151 Rum. Who doesn’t want to drink out of a pineapple? We will warn you that this is a stronger drink and you can taste the rum, but it’s also very fruity and juicy.

We like to scrape the pineapple off the sides of the drink, too, because it’s been infused with the rum, so you get a little extra that way. It is a very heavy drink, in more ways than one. It certainly packs a punch, but it’s also very tangy and syrupy.

Magic or Tragic?
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You can’t get a reservation at ‘Ohana. One of the best parts about eating at Tambu Lounge is that you can get some of the same food served in ‘Ohana without needing a reservation.
- You need a break from Magic Kingdom. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is right on the Monorail, so this is an easy spot to get to when you need a break from the park.
- You want a quick meal, but not counter service. This isn’t exactly a quick service spot, but you can get in and out pretty quickly.
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You really want to eat at ‘Ohana, or haven’t eaten there before. ‘Ohana is one of those restaurants everyone needs to experience at least once, and Tambu Lounge doesn’t have everything from the ‘Ohana menu.
- You’re not staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. If you’re not staying at the hotel, you’ll have to travel for this meal, but it is still fairly convenient to Magic Kingdom.
- You want a full table service meal. This is a lounge, meaning you won’t get full service like you would at a table service restaurant.
Tambu Lounge is always our go-to spot when we’re craving ‘Ohana without wanting to go through the trouble of trying to get a dining reservation at ‘Ohana. It’s also a great spot to grab a drink as the bartenders are very knowledgeable and friendly.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news and more!
