United Airlines offers FREE in-flight messaging when you connect to the Wi-Fi. There are options to pay for Wi-Fi for even more options, but even if you opt not to pay, you can still take advantage of in-flight messaging, united.com, the United app, and United’s entertainment options.

While more and more airlines are offering the option to join the plane’s Wi-Fi network to stream movies, TV shows, and music options, we have to say that including free in-flight messaging is a game-changer! You can stay connected during your flight for free. You won’t be able to scroll your favorite social media channel without paying, but you can use apps like iMessage, WhatsApp, and Messages by Google to send messages for free.

Now you can provide updates to your favorite people and stay in contact while you are flying. Or you can always take a few hours for yourself and completely disconnect (we won’t tell anyone else that you could actually be messaging for free).
