“I’m Visiting!” The Wizard Cops Came for Me at Epic Universe

I’ve visited Epic Universe numerous times at this point, but every time I go, there’s something that surprises me or catches me off guard. There’s so much to see and do and learn at Universal’s newest theme park!

Recently, while I was traipsing around The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, something happened to me that took me by surprise, but in the best way. I felt TOTALLY immersed in the land! Take it from me — you’ll want to be careful with your wand around the Aurors!

There I was, minding my own business in my Slytherin beret, my wand safe and sound in my bag, as I wandered around the land. All of a sudden, I heard a voice behind me, and it was an AUROR (a.k.a. a Wizard Cop) asking me if I had a permit for my wand. Uh-oh.

A permit? What? I’m not French, and I didn’t think I looked like I was from the 1920s, so I had no idea you even needed a wand permit in Paris! I told the Auror I left my wand permit at home (a complete lie; I had no permit, but I figured it gave me the best chance to get off scot free), but alas, my questioning wasn’t over.

The Auror looked at me and said, “Well, that kinda breaks the point of a permit,” which I couldn’t argue with. He asked me where I was from, and I told him I was visiting from the Americas. Thankfully, he told me he’d let me off with a warning since I was visiting, but then he TOOK DOWN MY NAME and wrote it down in his book!

Listen, I was grateful to be let off with a warning, but it definitely wasn’t something I expected to happen, and it won’t be something I forget for a long, long time. This park truly is so immersive in so many ways, and I can’t wait to continue exploring it as it fully opens to the public on May 22nd, and to see how it continues to grow and change throughout the years.
