See INSIDE Super Nintendo World and Donkey Kong Country at Epic Universe

It’s almost time for Epic Universe to open at Universal Studios Orlando, which means Super Nintendo World is FINALLY coming to Florida!

Super Nintendo World

We’re getting the opportunity to step into this land today as we check out everything the new park has to offer, and we are here to bring you ALL the details of what to expect from this new land!

Epic Universe is Universal Studios Orlando’s third gate and is set to open May 22nd, but we’re getting a chance to walk around today.

It includes five new lands, including an East Coast version of Super Nintendo World (previously built at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan), which will have two areas — Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country.

Time to hit the start button.

The new land has three attractions, including Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge! This ride will let you go inside the iconic Mario Kart video game and race your favorite characters while using augmented reality to create a unique experience for each racer. You’ll be able to steer, collect coins, and throw shells at Team Bowser!

The second attraction is Yoshi’s Adventure, a slow-moving family ride that offers scenic views of the whole land. Riders will search for glowing eggs throughout the area and might even see fun characters!

We didn’t experience Yoshi’s Adventure during our media preview; stay tuned for more details.

While the Mario-centric portion of the land is nearly a carbon copy of what American Universal fans can find in Hollywood (except for the Yoshi ride), the Donkey Kong portion had previously only been available in Japan.

The most anticipated ride for Super Nintendo World is Mine-Cart Madness.

Mine Cart Madness

This previously Japan-exclusive roller coaster uses new technology to make it look like you are jumping the track in mine karts — just like in the Donkey Kong video game series!

Riders will be shot out of a barrel and jump over gaps in the track.

Let’s ride!

Super Nintendo World, like in Universal Studios Hollywood, will also use Power-Up Bands, which turn the whole land into a video game! Guests can collect coins by playing mini-games, riding attractions, and hitting power-up blocks — just like Mario!

These bands will keep your score, so you can add more every time you visit.

There are also plenty of meet-and-greets around the area, including the chance to meet Toad, Mario, Luigi, and more. The land’s main restaurant is Toadstool Cafe, which offers Mario and Luigi burgers, a Piranha Planta Caprese salad, and Bowser’s Fireball Challenge, a one-pound meatball with a puff pastry that looks like Bowser!

There’s also Yoshi’s Snack Island, Turbo Boost Treats, and The Bubbly Barrel for quick snacks and bites. We’re super excited about the popcorn stand and unique popcorn buckets, too!

It wouldn’t be a new land without plenty of opportunities to shop!
