There aren’t many things in Disney World that we say are worthless.

Really, we think almost everything in Disney World is valuable to someone, but it depends on who you are/the group you’re with. For example, a stroller may be worthless to someone not traveling with small children, but it is a necessity and a lifesaver to those who are! Lightning Lane may be worthless for those on a budget who are taking the parks slow, but it’s invaluable to someone who is trying to ride lots of rides in one day. However…we have to admit that this $12 purchase is almost always totally worthless and we really don’t recommend it.
Rain is inevitable in Disney World, especially if you’re traveling during the rainy season. Even if no rain is in your forecast, we recommend packing for some to be prepared, because you never know when a shower can pop out of nowhere. And if you’re not prepared? Well, that’s when everyone runs to buy a $12 poncho, and we’re telling you now this is NEVER worth the purchase.

Will it keep you dry in the moment? Yes, maybe, but you’ve just spent $12, the same price as some MEALS in the parks, for something that will make you feel like you’re baking. The moment the sun hits it and you start to sweat, you’ll feel trapped inside of it and like its sticking to you, and it tears SO easily, making it a one-time use item.

That’s why we recommend getting a poncho ahead of your trip that you can use over, and over, and over again, like our favorite FROGG TOGG Poncho!

It comes in multiple different colors, is genuinely water resistant, will keep you covered, won’t make you feel like you’re baking, and won’t tear. Seriously, multiple members of our team have them and don’t regret the purchase!
On that same note, a dead phone is never good in Disney World, and you may be tempted to buy a FuelRod. However, we say planning ahead of time for a dead phone is essential, so buy your FuelRod AHEAD of your trip and get two for $30 instead of just one!

We also feel it’s extremely important to tell you that even if you buy your FuelRods online before you get to the park, you can STILL switch out your dead one for a fully charged one in the park at one of the machines. Now, you’ll have to be okay with letting “your” FuelRod go, and if you’re not okay with that, then you’ll need to wait to charge them back at the hotel overnight before your next park day.
And finally, this one is a little controversial, but if you’re heading into the Confectionery or another area of the park where there are pre-packaged sweet treats alongside ones in the case, NEVER buy a pre-packaged treat over something from the case!

The price is exactly the same and the case items will be MUCH fresher. Often, we’ve found ourselves to be disappointed with the candy apple, rice krispy treat, marshmallow pop, etc. that are already packaged out on the floor because they were often made days prior (this doesn’t mean they’re not safe to eat, they’re just not as fresh!). So do yourself a favor and spend a few extra minutes waiting in line to get something from the case — your tastebuds will thank you!
