Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is one of the most immersively themed areas in all of Disney World.

It’s home to two of the most popular attractions in Disney’s Hollywood Studios — Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run (which we now know will be getting a new storyline in the future!). Lots of Star Wars fans flock to this area and spend a lot of their vacation exploring the ENTIRE area and meeting all the characters they can. We got word of a special event happening last night in Galaxy’s Edge and knew we had to check it out — we were NOT disappointed!
On August 24th, there was a Lightsaber Meet Up happening in Galaxy’s Edge that was set to begin when the sun went down. What was this event, you ask? Well, it is an unofficial Star Wars fan event, where fans got together to show off their lightsabers and enjoy each other’s company before the park closed!

We made sure to get to the area just before the sun went down. While it was still daylight, we saw some people waiting around for the event to begin…

…and then we saw more and more people join in as the sun got lower and lower.

By the time it was dark, there were a ton of people with their lightsabers ready for the event! We even got to meet an AllEars fan, Autumn, who not only had her lightsaber but was dressed up for the event — you look amazing, Autumn, and it was so great to meet you!

While this wasn’t an official Disney or Disney fan event, Disney still did the show at the beginning of the event in front of the First Order TIE Echelon!

If you’re interested in attending a future event, you can join a special Discord, and fans will post information about the get-together. You can also check Facebook and Instagram for more dates and details. The meetup was pretty amazing!

Breedlove, who was covering the event, even got into the feel of things and took some EPIC photos with a lightsaber! Doesn’t he look awesome?
