3 Top Secret Shortcuts in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Hello Hollywood! Have you ever wondered if there was a better way to get around Hollywood Studios?

Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios is Disney World’s third theme park, and it is laid out much differently than a park like Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. Hollywood Studios has more alcoves and dead ends, which can be frustrating if you do not know the park too well. We know you do a lot of walking when you visit the parks, and we are here to save you a few extra steps by letting you in on our favorite shortcuts to get around the park a little bit quicker

Hollywood Studios has seen many changes over the past few years with the addition of Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge. One thing remains the same: the park has many different paths you can take to get to your final location, whereas in Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, you can take different paths, but they all end up connecting together in a circle.

Basically, the park layout in Hollywood Studios is different and there are not too many alternative paths to use. But none the less, we go to the parks every day, and our reporters have perfected their park walks to help save them time and be more efficient, so of course, we are going to share those tips with you!

For our first shortcut, if you want to go from the middle of the park (where Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is in the Chinese Theater) to Galaxy’s Edge, we recommend taking the path by ABC Commissary

While on this route, you will pass by the Sci-Fi Dine-In and up near BaseLine Tap House. While this path is not secret, you can save a lot of steps by going this way instead of walking all the way around Echo Lake or walking all the way through Toy Story Land.

Disney World can get crowded and if you are like us and want to avoid getting stuck in a crowd, you can take this alternative route in Hollywood Studios. If you are trying to get over to Backlot Express or Star Tours, we like to hang a left by Echo Lake and pass 50s Prime Time Cafe.

Now, this path might not save you time, but we find it to be less crowded!

Our next shortcut might not save you steps, but it could save you time waiting in line. In our experience, Hollywood Studios tends to empty out at night. This could be because people are park hopping and want to end their night in Magic Kingdom to see the fireworks. Or people flock to watch Fantasmic!

Regardless of the reason, we find that a few hours before closing, ride wait times drop significantly. We are always so shocked when we walk by the screens that list all the wait times and see lower waits for popular attractions.

While we can’t guarantee wait times will be low every night, Disney World at night is so much fun (and also a bit cooler when the sun goes down). If you have the time to swing it during your trip, we suggest checking out Hollywood Studios after dark—it just might save you time in line!
