I Go to Disney World Every Day, and Even I Made This MASSIVE Skyliner Mistake

I’m in the Disney World parks nearly every day, as well as a lot of the AllEars team, but you may be surprised by how often we still make mistakes.

Hey from Disney World!

Disney World is almost always changing, and that means that sometimes when we’re focusing on something new in the parks, or in my case, I’m focused on filming a video, sometimes those things that I just KNOW and would usually be muscle memory go right out the window. I recently had an experience like this on the Skyliner and needed to share it with you all so you don’t make the same mistake I did!

It’s pretty common knowledge that heights and I are not friends (although since getting past my fear of Tower of Terror, it’s become one of my favorite attractions!), so the Skyliner and I are on acquaintance terms.

EPCOT Skyliner Station

While filming a recent episode of Doing Everything in Disney World, where if I successfully complete 1000 tasks in Disney World in 100 days I’ll get to bring Fry Bucket and Quincy to Disneyland Paris with me (!!!), I hopped on the Skyliner at EPCOT to complete a quick loop. Agnes, our artificial intelligence app/friend that assigns these tasks to me each video, told me I just had to do the Skyliner, so I wanted to take the fastest possible route.

That would have meant getting off at Disney’s Riviera Resort and just getting back in line to head back to EPCOT. However…let’s just say my brain got a little scrambled. Instead of getting off at Riviera (since you have the choice to stay on if you’re heading to one of the other resorts or to Disney’s Hollywood Studios), I stayed on to head to Caribbean Beach Resort, which is the main Skyliner Station.

At this station, you can head one direction to the Riviera and EPCOT, one way to Hollywood Studios, and a third way towards Art of Animation and Pop Century. I was halfway to Caribbean Beach when I suddenly came back to myself and realized that I was taking a MUCH longer route than I needed to. Now I needed to get off at Caribbean Beach to get in line for EPCOT, pass by Riviera AGAIN, and then get back to the park! While it wasn’t the end of the world, it definitely took more time than I was originally planning for, which can get stressful real fast on your vacation.

Inside the Skyliner

So what’s the moral of the story here? Well, the Skyliner can be CONFUSING! And even those of us that ride it all week long can still get turned around sometimes. If you’re confused about where to get off, we encourage asking a Cast Member before you get on the Skyliner, or pulling up Disney’s map on your phone so you can follow along.

However, if you get switched around like we did, there’s always a way to get back to where you need to go. Just get off at the next station, ask a Cast Member for help, and you’ll be well on your way. The key is to not panic — take a breath, remember that everything will be okay, and then launch into action.
