But that popularity means the line to get inside often snakes through the already limited pathways, adding another layer of chaos.
It’s not unusual to see guests hovering near the entrance just waiting for their chance to get in. That means you’re squeezing past folks holding menus, chatting with Cast Members, and generally hanging around the same high-traffic zone where everyone else is shopping or heading to the ride.
Why It’s A Deterrent For Some
For some Disney fans, the congestion in Mexico is enough to reroute their entire World Showcase plan. Starting in Canada and working around to Norway, only to hit the wall of people clustering in Mexico, can be a frustrating experience. Even if you’re tempted by a margarita, the effort it takes to navigate the crowd can outweigh the reward.
This is why some guests prefer to save Mexico for later in the day—or skip it altogether. When the pavilion is packed, you might feel like you’re spending more time shuffling your feet than actually enjoying the shops, food, and atmosphere.
But It’s Still A Must-Do
Here’s the thing: despite the constant crowding, Mexico is still one of the most beloved pavilions in EPCOT. The atmosphere inside is unique, with that nighttime marketplace vibe that feels immersive no matter how many times you’ve been. The food and drinks are top-notch, and Gran Fiesta Tour is a low-key attraction that families love.
Yes, it’s crowded, and yes, you might feel like you’re walking through a sea of people, but the charm of this pavilion keeps guests coming back. It’s the perfect example of a Disney World experience that balances a few inconveniences with rewards that make it worth it.
Our Best Tip
If you want to enjoy Mexico without the full chaos, timing is everything. Try visiting early in the morning right after World Showcase officially opens, or later in the evening once the dinner rush dies down. Even then, don’t expect it to be empty, but you might find a little more breathing room.
And if the crowds start to stress you out, just remember—you’re not alone. Pretty much every EPCOT veteran has had that moment of standing in the middle of Mexico thinking, “Wow, this place is PACKED.”

Maybe they could enlarge the pavilion to land behind it but that makes too much sense and would cost money.
They need to relocate La Cava to outside the Pavillion to reduce crowding. Drinking has become WAY too prevalent everywhere at Disney World. Such a money grab; and a degradation of the park experience for the family-focused guests.

I had dinner at the restaurant there. I had just gotten engaged and we were very happy. I was so surprised. The waiter was so nice. He took our picture that night. I always liked it there because the air conditioning was always cranking! I didn’t want to leave.
My strategy? Just relax – it’s more time in the air conditioning.
