NEWS: Disney CHANGES Reopening Date for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios

Surprise! We’ve got some happy news that might brighten your day. Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, one of the most popular rides in the park has been closed, closed, and closed for what feels like FOREVER. But now, the reopening date has changed!

Yes, we’re talking about Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, which has been closed for an extended maintenance project since January. Now, according to the Disney World calendar, the reopening date might be sooner than we expected!

If you’ve visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios lately, you may have noticed that Sunset Boulevard is pretty quiet. Especially the area over by Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, as there’s not a whole lot to do in this quiet corner of the park since the ride is unavailable. Even the gift shop is closed!

So, what’s with the extended closure? Well, Disney noted that the ride would be down for routine maintenance, but considering how long the ride has been closed, we’re hoping this ride will be bright, smooth, and shiny when it reopens. We’re hoping we don’t see any “technical difficulties” for a while.

For a long time now, the Disney World website has noted, “This attraction is planned to reopen in summer 2024.” But summer is a big portion of the year!

Back in May, the Disney World website was updated to show operating hours at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starting June 27th, 2024. But now, it looks like the reopening date was CHANGED! In fact, the website now lists the ride as open on July 1st! That’s just a few short days away.

The timing is quite perfect, as we’re expecting Disney World to be pretty crowded around the Fourth of July holiday. The more rides that are up and running, the more those crowds can disperse around the park!

If you were hoping to score some backstage passes, it sounds like you won’t have to wait too much longer! Keep in mind that Disney may update the website if the refurbishment schedule suddenly changes, but we’ll keep our eyes out for any news.
