NEWS: Reopening Date CONFIRMED for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

In Disney World’s ever-constant state of “becoming” you’d think we would be used to having constant construction and ride closures around us all the time. But, it doesn’t seem to to get any easier on us when we’re without some of our favorite rides for months while they’re under refurbishment.

Rock n Roller Coaster

Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster has seen its ups and downs lately with reopening and closing again for extended refurbishments, but now it seems we finally have an answer for when we can expect it to reopen once again.

It’s no surprise that every day thousands of folks flock to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to get their thrills in, but lately, it’s been really quiet in one section of the park. Since Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s latest closure, which started back in January, we’ve practically seen most of this area off Sunset Blvd shut down (with the exception of some merch and snack kiosks, face paint, bathrooms, and Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy). If you’ve “walked this way” recently, you’ve probably thought the whole area looked a lot like a ghost town and found it eerily quiet.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has been closed since January!

When Disney first announced the ride’s closure, they mentioned that this latest round would be for routine maintenance but would be pretty lengthy. This probably came as a surprise to no one since several times when it was operating, the ride struggled to stay open throughout the entire park day.

It’s closed

Since its closure, Disney seems to have been hard at work on the attraction including pulling several work permits to complete the refurbishment. Since the ride’s most recent closure, Disney announced that the ride is expected to reopen sometime during the summer — and that was it!

If you’ve found yourself eagerly checking for any update you could find about Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s anticipated Summer 2024 reopening, it seems Disney is finally ready to let us in on the earliest we can expect to take our next ride. Disney quietly updated the posted hours for the ride, which are expected to start on July 27th, 2024.

Previously, we had noticed this ride came off the Disney World app’s list of refurbishments for July 27th. It was listed for refurbishment on July 26th, then off on July 27th. However, now seeing it has official hours posted confirms our theory that it will open once again on July 27th!

Fry Bucket at Rock ‘n Roller Coaster

If you’ve been missing taking a wild ride in a super stretch limo to the next Aerosmith concert (armed with your backstage passes), it seems like you won’t have to wait too much longer! While Disney still has yet to make a bigger announcement on the popular ride’s return, it’s still exciting to find that operating hours for it are once again posted on the Disney World website (and keeps us hopeful that we won’t see them change)!

  1. Weren’t they threatening considering a new, more current popular band a year or two ago?
I’m fine with keeping Aerosmith; maybe just update the 20 year old video in the Control Room?
