Back during the 2023 Destination D23 event, Disney dropped some major news on us — that a new Tavern is being imagined in Adventureland, which will “extend the story of Pirates of the Caribbean”.

That’s right — a Pirates of the Caribbean lounge is coming to Magic Kingdom, and we’re pretty darn excited about it. Disney hasn’t shared too many details about this new spot, but we think we have a clue that news could be coming soon.
We’re always on the hunt for the latest construction permits Disney has filed to get an idea of what projects might be on the horizon around the parks and more! We search for Notices of Commencement to find out what sort of work might be going on. This time around, we spotted a new permit for work at Caribbean Plaza, over near Pirates of the Caribbean and Tortuga Tavern.

Disney hasn’t officially confirmed that this will be the location of the new Pirates lounge, but we think it’s the area that would make the most sense. This permit description is for “mechanical” work, and the contractor on the document is Siemens Industry, which often works in automation and electrification — so it could really be for anything.

This isn’t the first permit we’ve seen for this area, either. On May 31st, Disney filed a new construction permit for work on 4873 CARIBBEAN WY # B, the technical legal address of Caribbean Plaza in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom. Interestingly, the permit extends through August 2025, slightly longer than the usual one-year date range we typically see with these kinds of permits.

But, we could soon get an announcement or update about the Pirates of the Caribbean lounge.
D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is taking place from August 9th-11th this year in Anaheim, CA. The three-day event includes a TON of special offerings like panels, showcases, and exhibitions that cover all kinds of Disney fan topics. And usually, the event includes some pretty major announcements as well — so we’re crossing our fingers!
