We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again — change is the only constant in Disney World.
Well, okay, that and Mickey Mouse. No two days are alike in the parks and hotels, and if you’re getting ready to head out on a trip you might want to know about everything going on that can impact your trip. We spotted some clues that more changes are on the way at Disney World so find out what you need to know!
We make our way through permits recently filed by Disney World to get an idea of what sort of construction projects may be coming up in the parks and hotels. Let’s take a look at what we found this time around!
EPCOT
EPCOT has been undergoing a massive transformation for quite a while now, and Disney recently announced that it’s all slated to be completed by the end of December! In the meantime, though, we found a new permit for work to be done over at Mission: SPACE. We’ve seen the entrance of this ride get a makeover, with the entire Earth disappearing at one point.
That permit was for “general construction,” but a second permit was filed recently for Mission: SPACE, too, that is to “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction.” It’s possible that we’ll be seeing even more work done over at this attraction sometime soon.
Hollywood Studios
This park has been struggling a bit lately, with some pretty high wait times and temporary closures for a few rides. Plus, Animation Courtyard is all but abandoned (okay, maybe that’s dramatic) except for rumblings of change according to this new permit.
You guessed it — “general construction” work will soon be done at Star Wars Launch Bay. The permit doesn’t get any more specific than that, which means this could be for major work or something minor. Launch Bay is currently where you can find Star Wars memorabilia and meet and greets, but maybe this permit means we could see something else here soon.
Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge
And, what might be the most exciting of them all — a permit extension previously filed by Disney was recently granted for Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge. We thought Disney had canceled this project after seeing construction equipment pulled from the area that used to be home to River Country, but it might not be all over for Reflections yet.
Keep in mind that this extension really just buys Disney more time — five years, actually. Just because this permit extension was granted doesn’t mean Disney is all of a sudden going to start this project up again, but it’s interesting to note. The permit matches up with a specific location that could eventually be used for construction coming to Fort Wilderness.
