There is SO much media to keep up with nowadays.
Not only is cable television still around, but we now have several streaming services with all kinds of exclusive shows. New content is coming out every year across these platforms, but not all shows get their full run. Unfortunately, one recent ABC show has been cut after two seasons.
Deadline reported that The Wonder Years will not return for a third season and has been canceled at ABC.
The show’s second season was slated for a midseason return but was pushed to summer, signaling to many a doomed fate (many experts believe summer has “traditionally been used as a destination for broadcast scripted series that have either been canceled or are likely to be”).
This series was a reboot of the 1988 classic television series of the same name. It follows the Williams family in the late 1960s and is narrated by 12-year-old Dean as he “navigates growing up in a Black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama, and the friendship, laughter, and lessons learned along the way.”
The show was the “lowest-rated and least-watched ABC series this summer” and also ranked last among ABC’s series that ran in the 2022-2023 season, per Deadline. As always, be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest media news.
