Crowds. We’ve all had to deal with them in Disney World at one time or another, right?

We usually know when to expect the parks to be busy: on holidays and holiday weekends, during special events, and on runDisney marathon weekends. With this weekend being the runDisney Springtime Surprise Marathon Weekend, what do crowds look like in the parks right now?
Well, the answer might surprise you. First, we’ve noticed that the parks are a LOT quieter now than they’ve been in over a month. The Spring Break travel season is about over, and as a result, we’re seeing fewer people, lower wait times, and lower Genie+ prices (here’s why that’s an indicator of crowd level in the parks).

So even though it’s a marathon weekend, the parks just didn’t feel that crowded this weekend. Let’s take a look at some photos. First, let’s look at Saturday. When we arrived at the Transportation and Ticket Center, the line for the Monorail to Magic Kingdom wasn’t bad at all.

Fantasyland was VERY easy to get around — there are usually a lot of chokepoints here when things are busy.

Sunday, though, in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Toy Story Land did feel a little busy — but that’s pretty normal for this area. It tends to get congested easily.

However, wait times continued to surprise us. When we checked, Star Tours had just a 5-minute wait time.

Even more surprising was that one of Disney World’s most popular rides, Rise of the Resistance, a ride that has had MULTI-HOUR waits recently, only had a 40-minute wait this morning. The rest of Hollywood Studios also felt VERY chill. We saw a wait time of just 15 minutes for Tower of Terror at one point.

EPCOT was also surprisingly relaxed. We’re not sure if we just got used to the HUGE crowds during Spring Break, or if this really is a sign that the runDisney event didn’t have a HUGE impact on crowds this weekend.

We usually do expect to see a FEW more people around during a marathon weekend, so, yeah, we’re a little surprised. But hey, that just means if you’re going to Disney World soon, you might have fewer people to deal with.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on wait times and crowds in the parks and keep you updated. So be sure to check back with AllEars often.
