PHOTOS: The Christmas Crowds Are NOT What You’d Expect in Disney World

We’re wishing a very Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!

Merry Christmas!

All the holiday decorations, limited-time snacks, and ride overlays have all been leading up to this day. Christmas can be one of the busiest times at Disney World, but some of the crowds we’ve seen lately have really surprised us, so let’s see what the crowds are looking like today!

We visited Magic Kingdom and EPCOT on this chilly Christmas morning and saw lots of folks bundled up and ready to start their holiday in the Most Magical Place on Earth!

EPCOT

Let’s start our day at EPCOT.

Christmas Day line to enter EPCOT

There were some lines to get into EPCOT, but they weren’t too long. Some people may have opted for a later start due to the chill in the air or perhaps opening Christmas presents first thing this morning delayed their arrival in the parks.

While walking into the park, we immediately noticed that crowds were gathering around Spaceship Earth in EPCOT.

There was also a substantial line for Mission: SPACE green! How long would you wait to ride?

Some of the busiest parts of the park seemed to be the shops and dining locations, which makes sense — on chilly days like today, folks need their coffee, hot chocolate, and indoor heating!

At the Mexico pavilion, Gran Fiesta Tour was temporarily down when we visited, so the pavilion was rather empty. And the line for La Cava del Tequila was fairly short.

Now, let’s hop to Magic Kingdom!

Magic Kingdom

At the Castle Hub in Magic Kingdom, there were plenty of folks ready to watch the castle show!

Throughout the park, crowds were looking pretty sparse, considering how popular Christmas Day can be!

Starting into Tomorrowland

Some popular attractions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train had a substantial line, but other spots in Magic Kingdom had plenty of walking room!

Did you expect the crowds to be bigger than this on Christmas Day?

Once again, stores proved to be popular places in the park. Maybe folks just wanted to buy an extra layer of warmth or pick up a set of gloves to keep them warm!

Or maybe it was time for some last-minute Christmas shopping!

Over in Liberty Square and Frontierland, things were quieter and much less overwhelming.

Keep in mind, these were the crowds earlier in the morning. We imagine the crowds and lines will pick up across all of the parks once the day warms up and folks finish their Christmas morning traditions.

Not So Busy Over Here
