Rise of the Resistance Is Unexpectedly Closed in Disney World

Rise of the Resistance is one of the most technologically advanced rides in Disney World.

That also means, there are many, many things that can — and do — go wrong with it.

In walking around Disney’s Hollywood Studios this afternoon, we were just arriving at Rise of the Resistance when it closed temporarily.

Rise of the Resistance is currently closed in Disney World.

The Disney World Cast Members at the ride said they did not know how long the ride would be down. When we asked if they expected it to re-open today, they said yes, they thought it would.

Since Rise of the Resistance is an Individual Lightning Lane attraction at Disney World, meaning, you can pay to ride at a certain time during the day, you might be wondering what happens if your Lightning Lane time arrives, and the ride is down.

If you happen to find yourself with an Individual Lighting Lane ride that closes, you’ll get an “experience redemption,” which is basically a boarding pass that lets you ride that attraction at any time of the day after it reopens. You will see it in your My Disney Experience App.

But what happens if the ride doesn’t reopen at any point during that day? Then you qualify for a refund, BUT you’ll need to ask for it. Make your way to Guest Relations and ask for a refund if the ride does not reopen or if it’s announced that the ride will be closed for the rest of the day. HOWEVER, if the ride does reopen, you do not qualify for a refund.

  1. “Technologically advanced” which translates to: They cut costs on dark rides to make it seem automated, but is a rather simplistic system with large margin for errors without the physical track.
