The holiday season is in full effect at Disney World, and although it was a little pared back last year due to the global health crisis, this year, a lot of fun holiday activities and entertainment are returning!

One of our favorite things has returned this year to the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays — the Candlelight Processional. And we’re taking you along with us for the VERY FIRST ONE since 2019 — let’s take a look!
The Candlelight Processional is a retelling of the Christmas story at the American Adventure Pavilion at EPCOT. It features a celebrity narrator, along with a choir and live orchestra. It’s one of the most popular holiday traditions at Disney World, and for good reason.

Leading up to the first show of the night, there was quite the line in World Showcase! When it comes to the processional, there are two options for getting into the show — standby and guaranteed seating with select dining packages.

The Candlelight Processional Dining Packages (available at Rose & Crown Dining Room, Biergarten, Garden Grill, and Coral Reef) were a bit tougher to get than usual this year, but there were also two new first-come, first-served packages that became available today at Regal Eagle and Spice Road Table.
All of these packages come with a meal and guaranteed seating at Candlelight Processional. But you can also opt for the standby line if you’d prefer a free option — just keep in mind that the line can form pretty early outside of the theater so you’ll want to arrive early.

After we found our seats at the show, the orchestra began playing its first pieces. We were a little misty-eyed, especially since this was the first Candelight Processional in two years.

Not long after, the choir began its processional to the stage. Disney did previously state that this year’s Candlelight Processional would not host choirs from different community groups and schools as they’ve done in years past, though. So, this year’s choir is made up entirely of Cast Members.

The celebrity narrator telling the story of Christmas on the first night of the Processional was Auli’i Cravalho, the voice of Moana! Other celebrity narrators this year include Jodi Benson, Alton Fitzgerald White, Lisa Ling, Steven Curtis Chapman, Blair Underwood, Chita Rivera and Pat Sajak.

And, at the end of the show, there was a standing ovation, which was well deserved after a beautiful performance from the choir, orchestra, and narrator!
