PHOTOS: Take a Closer Look at the DETAILS Coming to EPCOT's Creations Shop

There’s something about getting to look behind the curtain that makes everything Disney seem a little more magical.

Disney’s Imagineers have been working hard to create a new and innovative merchandise location in Disney’s EPCOT. Let’s take a look at the most recent design to reach the upcoming Creations Shop in EPCOT.

Part of one of the biggest transformations the park has seen, the goal for the new park is to bring the future and the past together to make a unique shopping experience. What does that entail? Well, starting from the floor and moving up!

Imagineer Zach Riddley shared some photos of the process of developing an entirely new flooring materials to bring life to the Creations Shop. In fact, there are FIVE different finishes being created with a combination of traditional techniques and 3D printing. By using 3D printing the Imagineers are able to customize every aspect of the new shop.

As part of Disney’s commitment to the environment and sustainable building practices, the binder material used to create the new flooring is completely natural.

This new flooring is all part of the plan to keep EPCOT modern without losing some of the more identifiable visual aspects. Like the new designs at Club Cool, Imagineers have combined the older patterns found in Spaceship Earth with a modern, open concept building. This new floor is created to make the space brighter and more contemporary.

Does this bright yellow accent color look familiar? It should! Imagineers chose the bold yellow found in Mickey Mouse’s shoes to combine the Disney of yesterday with the EPCOT of tomorrow.

This new flooring is just one of many changes being made to bring EPCOT into the modern day. Technology like 3D printing has brought the future to today! We’ll keep you updated with more from the EPCOT transformation.
