NEWS: Walt Disney Company Announces Sustainability Goals Through 2030

Spring is officially in the air, and the Disney parks are looking particularly beautiful as they install their seasonal florals.

Does this view get any better?

As we head into April, Disney has us thinking about more than just the beauty of their flora and fauna, but also the future of the planet with the celebration of Earth Month.

If the giant Mickey made of solar panels wasn’t enough of a clue, the Walt Disney Company is pretty serious about its conservation efforts. Today, in addition to announcing that they met their 2020 environmental goals, they have released an even bolder set of goals to be met by 2030.

The new environmental goals include zero net emissions and zero waste by 2030, water stewardship and conservation plans beginning in 2021, serving 100% responsibly sourced seafood by 2022, and committing to implementing lower-impact products and reducing single-use plastics through the parks and cruise lines.

This announcement comes as the kick-off to a month-long celebration of sustainability and earth-conscious practices, which will be continued in the parks and on the Disney Parks blog by Cast Members throughout April.

As Disney continues to implement more sustainable changes into the parks, we will be sure to keep you posted on the latest updates. In the meantime, we will certainly be doing our part, and we’ll definitely keep enjoying all the beautiful views their efforts have created.

Speaking of solar power…have you seen Disney World’s GIANT Solar Field??
