The Top 7 Things We Hope Reopen SOON in Disney World

It’s no secret that we’re currently missing some of our favorite things in Walt Disney World.

Not everything has reopened yet.

When the parks reopened, some attractions, restaurants, and resorts didn’t, and we’re still waiting on several things to come back, like most of the entertainment options in the park. But what do we miss most of all? Today we’re sharing our team’s list with you (in no particular order).

Fantasmic

One thing that we think about nearly every day? How much we miss Fantasmic at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! We miss fireworks in general, but there’s something about this classic Disney show that just calls out to us.

We can’t wait to sit in that amphitheater again and watch Sorcerer Mickey fight off the villains. We especially miss that grand finale where we get to see all of our favorite Disney pals on the steamboat! There’s definitely a Fantasmic-sized hole in our hearts that needs to be repaired. 💔

This billboard is just taunting us.

Port Orleans Resort

Okay Disney, we just don’t get it. There are only TWO Moderate Resorts open right now and we really want beignets! Pleeeease bring back the Port Orleans Resorts.

Oh, how we miss this lobby!

We miss strolling the grounds of the beautiful Riverside and admiring the lobby of the stunning French Quarter, then taking the Sassagoula River Cruise down to Disney Springs for an evening of fun. These resorts are truly one of Disney World’s hidden gems, and we can’t wait to be reunited!

We hope to be back soon!

Happily Ever After

We have several team members here at AllEars who cry every time we watch Happily Ever After (myself included), and we’re so ready to sob like babies on Main Street, U.S.A. again! This show punches you right in the feelings, but we don’t even care because it’s so spectacular and we miss it so much.

We’re tearing up just looking at this photo.

We’re ready to see massive pyrotechnics and all of our favorite characters and movie scenes projected on Cinderella Castle. The soundtrack to this show is so great that we’ve been listening to it on repeat for the last year, but unfortunately, it doesn’t come close to matching the real thing. Fireworks are a quintessential part of the Disney experience, and we really hope Disney can figure out a safe way to bring them back soon!

We’re ready to cry again.

Casey’s Corner

Disney World food is SO much more than just hot dogs, but sometimes, all we want is a really good hot dog. And you know where we can find that? Casey’s Corner. Except, sadly Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom is still closed!

Baby, come back!

Home of the chili dog and our beloved corn dog nuggets, we really miss enjoying a classic theme park meal from this spot on the corner of Main Street. Besides the satisfying food, the seating offers a perfect view of Cinderella Castle and gives a great vantage point for people-watching. Plus, Magic Kingdom really needs more quick service locations open now! (We also wouldn’t mind if they actually brought back Columbia Harbour House.)

It breaks our hearts to see it empty.

ALL the Entertainment

There are literally so many things on this list that we thought it was best to just make it all into one point! Shows like Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire, Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, and Finding Nemo The Musical are part of what brings life to the Disney World parks.

We’re ready to see Indy dodge a giant boulder!

It wouldn’t truly be Walt Disney World without showstopping entertainment, and we can’t wait for the day when we get to watch the Main Street Trolley Show or see the Citizens of Hollywood again. We’ll be getting Festival of the Lion King back soon (and for that we are thankful!), but it just makes us crave more!

More Resort Dining

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again — some of the best restaurants are at the Disney World Resort hotels! And right now, several of our favorites are still closed. We’re ready to have another hearty meal at Boma at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge or enjoy some delicious tropical fare at ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

One day we’ll get to have breakfast with Mickey at ‘Ohana again!

And besides those, we’re ready to see Mickey and friends again at Cape May Cafe and enjoy a thoroughly entertaining evening at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. And dining with Cinderella at 1900 Park Fare or having a particularly special meal at Victoria & Albert’s doesn’t sound too bad either!

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

And last but certainly not least, we NEED the PeopleMover to come back. This ride has been closed for refurbishment for more than a year and we can’t handle it!

We miss you, PeopleMover!

It pains us every time we get the news that the reopening date has been pushed back (which has happened like 6 times now, so our emotions are completely wrecked). All we want is to enjoy a slow ride through Tomorrowland, soaking in the sights and sounds and enjoying the park from a birds-eye view. They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder and after a year away, we’re about ready to throw a party when it finally does reopen.

We’re ready to go back up that conveyor belt!

Those are our top picks for the things we miss the most in Disney World right now. What would you add to the list? Stay tuned to AllEars for all of the reopening news and updates straight from the parks!

  1. Live entertainment and many table service restaurants and no more park reservations. One thing I do not miss are Fast Passes. The lines actually move along now!

  2. I really miss the Star Wars characters walking through Batuu. Stormtroopers conversing with guests. They added so much to the ambience of the area. Having just returned from ten days at Disney World, I found myself craving……vegetables! Really good salads. I know it sounds crazy. Could fast service places like Backlot offer a side of green beans? Cauliflower? Brussels sprouts? Broccoli? Coleslaw? I might be standing alone on this issue, not sure if people would order healthy sides. I love fries as much as the next guy, but maybe turn it into a baked potato now and then? I noticed a lot of people eating avocado toast in Epcot. More variety at food festivals please. I hate goat cheese. Too much shrimp. Meats are fatty and not very good. We love the food festivals, but I feel they need to try harder.

  3. Yes – Casey’s, Columbia House. Please soon- Boardwalk Inn, fast passes! Most missed- International cast members and all the stores at World Showcase!

  4. Yes to Port Orleans and the Peoplemover and Columbia Harbor House! Disney really does need to open more dining overall. More people than last summer but basically the same restaurants open plus distancing is making it hard to make dining reservations.

  5. They should just bring everything back so we can all party and have a great time. Lets have Disney World back at full strength again!!!!
