Disney shows and entertainment have slowly been returning to Walt Disney World over the past year.
We’ve seen the return of modified parades called Character Cavalcades and the Dapper Dans have been back singing on Main Street, U.S.A., but there were still many shows missing from the Disney Parks. And, we’ve finally got a timeline for the return of a fan-favorite show in Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
Jeff Vahle, president of Walt Disney World Resort, shared a behind-the-scenes look at Festival of the Lion King and it looks like Cast Members are already rehearsing for the show’s return to the park! They all look as excited as we are!
Disney had previously shared that the show would return this summer but did not provide much more beyond that…until today. We now know that the show will open its doors once again sometime in mid-May! And, it looks like the cast is already working on their roar — we better start practicing too!
You might want to have a box of tissues in hand for when Festival of the Lion King returns to Disney World because even Jeff Vahle admitted to having a lump in his throat after hearing the music again. But, until then, you can check out some behind-the-scenes looks at the show and get excited for mid-May!

I am glad this show is finally coming back. It was always my least favorite but at least some show is finally coming back. It will really be awesome when shows like Fantasmic and Beauty and the Beast Return. While your at it please bring back preshows, fireworks, and parades too.
Can’t wait! No matter how many times we see it, we keep going back. Hopefully we’ll see you in September!
