The poor, sweet PeopleMover…it’s been through a lot this year.
The ride was supposed to reopen with Magic Kingdom back in July, but then its refurbishment was extended. And then extended again, and again, and again. The ride has been closed for over a year and as big PeopleMover fans, we miss it terribly. And now, it looks like we won’t have the possibility of riding it again until May!
According to the calendars on the Walt Disney World website, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is under refurbishment until April 30th. The previous reopening date was this upcoming Saturday, April 4th, but now that has been moved back until May 1st.
We’ve seen the ride testing for quite a while and we’ve noticed Cast Members working on it a few times. We haven’t been given any details of the refurbishment from Disney, but whatever is going on, it must be a pretty big undertaking.

Are you freakin kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The people mover looks like it will never reopen!!!!!!!!!! This is absolutely freakin ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so sick of this. Yet another Freakin Delay. Then at the end of April they will say it is delayed until June, and then at the end of June, it will be delayed until August. This will never freaking end!!!!!!!!
Seriously? They could have rebuilt the entire thing by now. I wonder if it will even be any different whatsoever when it does come back. Long time down for nothing to change.
Hope it is back in May. Love sitting for a relaxing ride during the day, especially when we are all wearing masks and it is hot! We will be there on May 21st for our 27th Anniversary and are really wishing it is back up and running by then!
Of all the attractions in Disney World, the People Mover seems so basic. What in the world are they doing to it? This simple ride is great for a ten minute recharge. It is breezy, kid friendly . At times, you could hop on with little to no wait. In the past two years , People Mover has become very popular. Our family has waited up to thirty minutes just to board. What’s up with the People Mover? Has it become tired of moving people?
Maybe it’s so old parts are unavailable or parts are stuck in China. Essentially, unavailable. Never been on it but was looking forward.
