You probably know a lot about keeping dry during hurricane season in Orlando, but staying comfy during Florida winter can be pretty challenging too. Don’t worry, we’ve got some tips to help!

Here are 5 Must-Have Tips for Weathering Disney World in Winter!

1. Layer up!

The biggest tip for a Florida winter is to layer up! The temperatures tend to fluctuate about 20 degrees from the high to the low. You could want short sleeves at noon and a scarf and gloves at 7PM.

So, make sure you’ve got layers packed in your park bag. We like to use a scarf and a hat as a quick way to warm up! Plus, you can use a rain jacket as an extra layer and just in case you need it for a shower.

Florida winter is also the time to remember to wear socks. Florida is not sandal weather year-round and adding some slightly thicker socks can really help to keep you comfy during your park day.

2. Wear your sunscreen!

This next one might surprise you but you still need to wear your sunscreen in a Florida winter! Sure, it might not be 100 degrees, but the sun is still shining pretty bright.

Protect your skin from UV rays whether it’s warm or cold. A winter sunburn can sometimes be even worse than a summer one! Plus, grab some sunglasses. Something about winter sun just seems brighter.

Remember, you should even lather up when it’s cloudy. Just because you can’t see the sun doesn’t mean harmful rays aren’t still hitting your skin.

3. Know where to find heat!

When things start to get chilly, you might want a break from walking around in the cold. You can always head into an indoor attraction to get some heat in the queue and on the ride!

If you know you get cold, you might also want to make an indoor table-service reservation for the evening hours so that you can head inside and warm up with some yummy eats.

Emporium

The flip side of this is that merchandise shops can get a lot busier in the evenings when people are looking for some heat. If you want to shop a little easier, plan to shop while it’s still warm outside.

4. Gear up if you need to!

If you do find yourself unprepared in a theme park, don’t worry! Disney is stocked with gear to help you stay warm just in case you forget. So, head into a nearby merch store.

Most merchandise locations will offer cute jackets and hats and you’ll be able to find some basic items to help keep you warm as well.

Hats and Scarfs

Just bear in mind that you might find yourself paying a premium to cozy up in this case. Those Disney items do not come cheap!

5. Don’t count rain out!

And it can be tempting to count rain out when you’re in the dry season, but Florida is nothing if not constantly about to rain. Keep an eye on that forecast!

We like to check the weather periodically leading up to our trip and then every day once we’re actually in Disney World. This way, we’re as prepared as we can be for any showers.

A bad rainstorm could clear out Main Street!

And regardless of whether the forecast shows rain or not, grab that rain jacket or poncho anyway. You might save yourself from a surprise downpour and at worst you’ll have a layer for any water rides you head on!
