Ever since it was launched in 2021, Disney Genie+ has been a fairly controversial system…but perhaps the most controversial thing that Disney has done with it since is to introduce flexible pricing.

When Genie+ first launched, it was $15 per person, per day at Disney World, and things remained that way for a year. But since October 2022, Genie+ pricing has STARTED at $15 per day, with prices going as high as $39 per person, per day. We’ve been tracking the price since then, and we’re here to tell you which months are the WORST for purchasing Genie+!
OK, we’re going to zero in on a specific stretch of time here (specifically October through March), as these months have a LOT going on in terms of special events, crowds, and holidays, a.k.a. some of the “peak” times of year in Disney World.
October 2023
Let’s start out with a look at October 2023. October is typically a popular time for people to visit Disney World; you’ve got Halloween (and fun fall decorations), Columbus Day, AND nice weather in Florida. That’s a recipe for crowds.

That’s also a recipe for increased Genie+ prices. In fact, in October 2023, Genie+ pricing hovered between $20–29, with an average price of $26 per person, per day for the “Multiple Park” option.

Between October 1st through October 6th, the cost was a little lower (between $20–23), but every day after that, the price for the “Multiple Parks” option was $25–29. If you’re planning a trip to Disney World this fall (and want to spend a little less on Genie+), we recommend that first week of October.
November 2023
November brings Thanksgiving crowds, which means we started to see the prices jump for Genie+ during the busy holidays.

December 2023
Okay, we know you’re all curious about December, and we are too! Before Christmas, Genie+ was averaging $25-$27 per day, but once it hit December 23rd, the “Multiple Parks” Genie+ price skyrocketed up to $39.

The price remained at $39 through the end of the year and even sold out within minutes in some instances. So, yes. Genie+ is VERY expensive in December, and when we warn you about the crowds — especially as you get closer to Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve — trust us. It WILL be busy.
January 2024
In January, you’re still dealing with leftover holiday crowds and the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend crowds on the first weekend of the year. For this reason, Genie+ started at $35 on the first day of January; the price ranged from $23–29 for the rest of the month.

After that initial surge, Genie+ mostly stayed in the $25-$27 range, fluctuating during MLK weekend and other busy days. On average, it seemed to be similar to October’s pricing structure, with a $26 average price for the month.
February 2024
February saw more of the same prices for the Genie+”Multiple Parks” option. The combination of Mardi Gras, the Princess Half Marathon, and Presidents Day weekend will bring significant crowds to the parks, and during that time, Genie+ hit $35 per day on February 18th (the day before Presidents’ Day). Genie+ also sold out VERY quickly on Presidents’ Day.

You might not expect Genie+ to be so pricey in a month that used to be considered the “slow” season, but you may want to be wary of visiting during your break in February! The average cost of Genie+ this month was $26 (again).
March 2024
And finally, we come to March…spring break season! In March, Disney Genie+ has been $25 a day or more. It hit a $35 peak on several days, selling out on some of the busiest days of the month (mid-March).

We expect that the prices will remain high through the rest of spring break season (March and April), and will probably hit another peak during the weeks before and after Easter.
Which Month is WORST?
Based on the six months of data we’re looking at here, it seems that December is the worst time to visit for Genie+ pricing. It had the MOST peak-priced days, and reached the highest price within that six-month span of time.

For the cheapest prices, October may be the way to go. We’re still early into 2024, so we’ll have to see what things are like as the year continues!
