Christmas is gone and the New Year has officially arrived, but that doesn’t mean the crowds have left Disney World!
We typically expect heavy crowds during the couple of weeks when many people are on holiday break, but what happens once that break ends? With the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend coming up, there are still PLENTY of people in the parks…but you wouldn’t know it based on the Genie+ prices!
We’ve been visiting the parks every day during the holiday season, and we’ve seen some WEIRD crowd trends. In the past few days, Magic Kingdom was surprisingly slow on New Year’s Day, but then very crowded on January 2nd.
The crowds seem to be picking up as we head towards the marathon weekend, but in a bizarre twist, the Genie+ prices are dropping. Here’s a look at what the prices were like on Christmas day:
The Genie+ prices were high again on New Year’s Eve, but then began to drop on New Year’s Day. As of the morning of January 3rd, we’re back to almost “normal” Genie+ prices! Both the multi-park and Magic Kingdom options are $27, with EPCOT at $19, Hollywood Studios at $24, and Animal Kingdom at $17.
With those prices, you would think that the parks feel pretty normal…but that’s simply not the case! We’re still seeing heavy crowds in the walkways and long wait times. Several rides are consistently having wait times above 2 hours.
If you’re heading to the parks soon, you might want to be prepared for long waits and packed walkways…even if you’re saving a few bucks on Genie+. These are the times when Genie+ can be more worth the purchase — so don’t forget to buy it as early as possible in case it sells out!
We’ll keep an eye on the crowds and Genie+ prices in the coming days and let you know what the trends look like, so stay tuned to AllEars! And if you’re visiting soon, we wish you the best of luck.
