We Have A HUGE Construction Update For Disney’s Hollywood Studios

You’re never going to guess what just happened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Spoiler alert…you may freak out!

Construction walls for new Monsters, Inc. land

The brand-new Mosters Inc. Land, which is taking over what was Muppets Courtyard, just hit a huge milestone in its construction progress. We were at Hollywood Studios and saw for ourselves, and we got hit with a big spark of excitement. We know what you’re thinking…of course, we’re going to show you!

Believe it or not, the first columns for the door roller coaster track have been installed in Monstropolis. We’re going to say that again for the people in the back. You know the suspended flying door roller coaster coming to Monstropolis? Yeah, they’ve started building it!

They got the columns up to start construction on the roller coaster!

The columns are the tall, black cylindrical supports that you see standing vertically. This is a big deal as it marks the start of the highly anticipated attraction’s vertical construction phase.

You can see it from the parking lot!

The support columns are also visible from Hollywood Studios’ main parking lot. It’s crazy to think that the project has moved from foundation work to building vertically already.

Now we’re going to have to keep coming back even more, just to see the installation progress as they continue to lay the track down. Eventually, we’ll get to see the framework of the roller coaster.

This roller coaster will be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster. The concept is like the hanging door scene from the movie, and it sounds like it will truly immerse guests. We’ve already seen a concept video of how the seats will actually be picked up and put onto the rack!

Speaking of construction, another part of Hollywood Studios has been getting retransformed and is almost ready for guests. On May 26th, the newly reimagined Walt Disney Studios Courtyard, The Magic of Disney Animation, will officially be open. This new area is going to feature things like Disney Princess meet-and-greets, an Alice in Wonderland playground for kiddos, drawing classes with an Olaf animatronic, and more! So make sure to mark your calendars.
