A 6-Year Disney Visa Cardmember Swears By This Disney World Perk

It’s easy to love the Disney Visa credit card when you consider all the perks you can get!

Disney Visa card

The Disney Visa card may not be the flashiest credit card in our wallets, but as Disney experts, it is the one that pulls the most weight every single Disney trip. The card gives members some incredibly enticing perks that go beyond the usual luxury travel points and cash back offerings — and some, in particular, make the card 1000% worth it!

The Disney Visa card is offered by Chase Bank and is available in three tiers: one free standard version, one mid-tiered card (Disney Premier Visa) with a $49 annual fee, and the high-tier Disney Inspire Visa with a $149 annual fee.  The deals and savings get better with each tier, but the simple no-annual-fee version gives you enough reason to keep it year after year.

If you do anything at Disney or through Disney, the Disney Visa racks up savings FAST.

You’ll typically find a discount on shopDisney — usually around 10%, though it can vary depending on the promo. In the Disney Parks, you get 10% off at select merchandise and table-service locations. And yes, we’re talkin’ about that FREE no-fee version!

You’d actually be surprised by just how many Disney retail locations and restaurants will honor your Disney Visa! When in doubt, it never hurts to ask a Cast Member if they offer a Disney Visa discount (always ask before completing checkout). You can also check online through the official Disney Visa website. But, yeah — always ask.

Along with shopping and dining discounts, all Disney Visa tiers offer discounts on select guided tours, at Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company locations, and on hotel rooms (during occasional Disney Visa-exclusive promotions).

These kinds of savings aren’t available to the general public, and if you’re the kind of person who goes to Disney properties a lot and spends a ton of money, this card puts a bunch of money back in your pocket.

Another perk folks tend to forget about is one of our favorites — special photo ops and character meet-and-greets.

Disney Visa cardmembers get access to special photo-op locations at the Disney Resorts, including character meet-and-greets at EPCOT that typically have significantly lower wait times than standard character lines.

Mickey and Minnie

All you have to do is scan your card, walk into a private location, and meet characters with way less chaos. Best of all, these are usually in calm, air-conditioned locations that feel somewhat exclusive without being over-the-top.

And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the complimentary digital downloads you get with these photos!

Another perk we adore is the existence of Disney Rewards Dollars. These dollars are a loyalty currency earned by using the Disney Visa card, and every $1 in rewards equals $1 in value for Disney experiences, such as park tickets, merchandise, and dining in the United States.  Disney Visa cardmembers earn 1% to 10% back on purchases, with no limits on earnings and no expiration date.

Ultimately, these Rewards Dollars can pay for Disney meals, random merch splurges, and other luxuries that you otherwise might not have indulged.

There is something extra-special about using Rewards Dollars on a Mickey-shaped snack and telling yourself, “This is basically free.”

Mickey Pretzels are a classic!

We don’t want to oversell Disney Rewards. You need to load these credits onto a separate rewards card, and you cannot reimburse them back into yor account.  Additionally, the earning rate is not industry-leading, as other programs may give you back more cash with more flexibility.

But if your goal is to maximize your Disney spending (especially on the no-annual-fees card), these perks are too good to ignore.

Finally, let’s talk about an underrated perk: The card designs! This one is purely fun — but it’s also undoubtedly a perk of the Disney Visa. You can customize your card with Disney character designs, from Mickey to Pixar fan-favorites to Marvel heroes to Star Wars characters! If it’s a Disney IP, you can put it on your credit card!

  1. We just signed up for the new Inspire Card from Chase. What a great new card that this is! It gives you 3% back on Disney products/gas. It also gives you 2 percent on restaurants. It gives you a $600 bonus, $300 upon enrollment and then 300 back after spending $1000 in 3 months. It also gives you 10% back on streaming services. And, a $200 annual resort credit. And, of course, 0% for 6 month purchases for Disney travel. What a great deal that this is! It has a $149 annual fee, but it’s definitely worth it!
