Look, we’ve all been there. You’re packing for your Disney World trip, and you grab whatever shoes are closest in your closet.

But here’s the thing: your footwear can absolutely make or break your park day, and we’ve seen way too many people limping through Magic Kingdom by lunchtime. After countless park visits and more than a few blisters of our own, we’re sharing the three types of shoes you need to leave at home (plus what we’re wearing instead).
Brand New Shoes
We get it. You want to look cute for all those Disney photos, so you buy a fresh pair of sneakers specifically for your trip. But breaking in new shoes while walking 10+ miles around the parks? That’s a recipe for disaster.

Your feet are going to swell from all that walking and standing in the Florida heat, and stiff, unworn shoes aren’t going to do you any favors. Save the new kicks for after your trip and wear something you’ve already broken in. Your feet will thank you when you’re not desperately searching for Band-Aids by noon.
Super Dressy Shoes
Look, we’re all for looking good in your park photos, but those strappy sandals or ballet flats just aren’t going to cut it. Disney World isn’t a fashion runway – it’s a full-on athletic event disguised as a theme park.

You need shoes with actual support and cushioning. Those cute flats might work for a quick Target run, but they’re no match for a full day of standing in line, walking from land to land, and hauling yourself up and down multiple levels at certain attractions.
Now, these are fine if you are heading to a fancier venue like GEO-82 or Takumi-Tei, but be sure to pack another pair in your bag for after your reservation!
Instead, grab something like the HOKA Clifton 10 Shoes.

They’ve got that ultralight cushioning that’ll keep your feet happy mile after mile, plus they’ve improved the fit to prevent any annoying rubbing or slipping. Trust us. Comfort beats cute when you’re on your feet all day.
And honestly, pop some Dr. Scholl’s Plantar Fasciitis Relief Orthotic Insoles into whatever shoes you’re wearing.

They’ll distribute pressure evenly across your foot and provide extra cushioning that’ll make those long park days way more bearable.
Crocs
Okay, this one might be controversial because we know how much people love their Crocs. But hear us out. We’ve had some seriously scary moments with how slippery these can get, especially when the pavement’s wet from Florida’s infamous afternoon rain showers.

The last thing you want is to be slipping and sliding around the parks. Instead, try something like Teva Women’s Original Universal Sport Sandals.

They’ve got actual traction, they’re comfortable for all-day wear, and they can handle getting wet without turning into ice skates. Plus, they dry quickly, which is clutch when you’re dealing with Florida weather.
Oh, and don’t forget to toss some Dr. Scholl’s Moleskin Padding Strips in your park bag.

You can cut them to any size and stick them wherever you’re feeling friction. They’re thin enough to work in tighter shoes and can save you from developing blisters mid-day.
Your feet can carry you through an entire Disney vacation if you treat them right from the start.
In the meantime, we’ll be keeping an eye out for the latest Disney deals, so make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for more!
