I Never Thought I’d Say This, But I’m GLAD I Got Stuck on This EPCOT Ride

Would you believe there’s a time we’re rooting to get delayed on a Disney ride?

Remy’s Ratatouille Advenure

I’ve been visiting Disney theme parks for over 30 years, and during that time, I’ve gotten stuck and delayed on rides dozens of times, and I can’t say I’ve been happy about many of them. However, one of Disney World’s newest attractions has some fun Easter eggs built in to make delays more bearable.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure has been one of the resort’s busiest attractions since it first opened in EPCOT’s France Pavilion in 2021. The trackless ride, which combines screens and physical sets with free-moving ride vehicles, often draws average wait times of about 60 minutes, sometimes LONGER!

That combination of technology – along with the ride’s loading system – sometimes leads to delays in the ride. However, instead of vehicles simply being stuck and taking riders completely out of the immersion, Remy’s features several dynamic scenes that will extend slightly longer based on operational need. These include the Champagne popping scene at the ride’s climax, but our personal favorite takes place right after Linguini tells your vehicle to run out of the dining room and away from an angry Chef Skinner.

At this point, the ride takes off on a chase scene. However, if you delay in this spot, Chef Skinner and Linguini’s confrontation will play out a bit more, with the former comically slapping the latter, before the two break into a wrestling match.

While getting delayed on a Disney World ride is never our first choice, the dynamic change abilities of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at least offer some amusing extended scenes for those stuck. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on EPCOT.
