Disney hotel rooms can already come with some serious sticker shock, and one recent review from an AllEars reader definitely gave us something to think about.

Our reader, “debg33,” stayed at Disney’s Copper Creek Villas and shared their honest take on the resort. What was supposed to be a bucket-list trip turned out to have some surprising challenges along the way. While not every guest will have the same experience, it’s a good reminder of why it’s important to know what to expect before you book. Here’s what they had to say about their stay.
First Impressions
The trip started with a lot of excitement. Our reader explained,
“I traveled with my sister and family who are DVC members for an 8-day vacation. They wanted to try out a new resort and were excited they were able to book here since we were spending most of the trip at the resort. We were a group of 5 adults, with another adult joining us last minute for 3 nights. We had a 2-bedroom villa.”
That sounds like a setup for a great trip, but their time at the villa brought some unexpected frustrations.

Space and Layout
One of the first challenges had to do with the size of the room itself.
“It was small. The galley style kitchen was doable; however, it was the only way a kitchen could be put into the villa. It was hard for 2 people to prepare anything whether it be a meal or putting together a cooler bag and snack bag to take to the pool.”
And when using the Murphy bed, space became even tighter:
“When using the Murphy bed, there was not much room to walk by between the dresser and bed.”
For groups traveling with several adults, this is something worth considering when deciding on room type.

Hot Water Woes
Another big issue during this stay was the showers.
“During the entire stay, I never had a hot (or warm) shower, regardless of the time of day.”
While that may not be a common experience for every guest, it’s definitely something that affected their overall impression of the resort.
Service Expectations
Service is an important part of what many guests look forward to at Disney resorts, and this was an area where our reader felt a shift. They shared,
“Luggage service was almost non-existent. We filled a luggage cart upon arriving and the one person at valet filled out a slip for us. It used to be bell services were outside with valet to help with bag, loading the cart for you. There was one bell service member at times. It’s obvious the Disney experience has changed over the many years. They want your money but service in many areas is lacking to almost non-existent.”
That perspective highlights how expectations may differ depending on past Disney experiences.

Dining and Pool Experiences
When it came to dining, the review was mixed:
“The food was ok. I thought Roaring Fork was better than Geyser Bar and Grill.”
As for the pools, they noted that the main pool felt smaller than expected:
“The main pool is very small. We used the Boulder Ridge pool for the entire stay.”
They did appreciate the cabanas at Boulder Ridge, pointing out that they’re first-come, first-served and available at no extra charge.

The Takeaway
At the end of the trip, our reader summed it up by saying,
“Sadly, this was a one and done. Beautifully themed resort but also very buggy due to the water, trees and shrubs.”
Here’s how they broke it down:
- Pros: “Theming, location, cabanas at Boulder Ridge pool (first come since they is no charge but only 6 of them)”
- Cons: “Small villas, inconvenient layout of resort (elevators are very far from most rooms), lack of adequate staff, main pool very small, no hot water in showers regardless of time of day”

What This Means for You
Every guest’s stay at Disney can be different, and reviews like this are valuable for helping future visitors set their expectations. Copper Creek Villas has plenty of fans who love the theming and proximity to Magic Kingdom, but this particular review shows that not every part of the experience works for every group.

If you’re considering booking here, it may help to look at the layout, think about how much space you’ll need, and research recent guest reviews before making the splurge. That way, you can make sure your vacation matches your expectations.
