NEWS: Hollywood Studios To CLOSE EARLY on This Random Day in August

If you’re planning a trip to Disney World this summer, you’ll want to be aware of this schedule change that we just caught!

Hollywood Studios

On August 16th, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is scheduled to close at 6 PM, three hours before its usual closing time. Let’s take a look at why the park might be scheduled to close early on a random day in August.

Disney has not provided an OFFICIAL reason for this closure, but we think we have an idea of what could be going on. Disney usually closes parks early for private events or full park buyouts (yes, the park can be bought out). Neither of those events is open to the public!

When private events or park buyouts occur, the park must ensure that it is cleared early enough in preparation for everyone invited to the event. In this case, it looks like Hollywood Studios will be closing around the same time Animal Kingdom typically does.

Along with Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom closes at 6 PM on August 16th (as usual for the park). Magic Kingdom will close at 10 PM, and EPCOT will close at 9 PM. So every other park’s hours are pretty much normal for that day.

Now that we know that the park is closing with a couple of months’ notice — you’ll want to schedule accordingly. You can choose to go to Hollywood Studios from 9 AM to 6 PM that day, or you can plan to park hop out of Hollywood to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. We sometimes see lower crowds on early park closure dates, so that can often be an advantage!

Fantasmic!

With the early closure, you can’t help but ask, “What about Fantasmic!“? As of now, Disney hasn’t officially said anything, but it’s safe to assume that the fan-favorite show will be canceled for that day.

You’ll have to plan to watch Fantasmic! on another night. There are other shows around Disney World that you could go experience — like EPCOT’s Luminous or Magic Kingdom’s Happily Ever After.

It’s always smart to keep an eye out on the schedule far in advance, especially when you’re planning a big Disney World trip. You never know when some random day may not have the same hours you’re expecting. For more Disney news and updates, be sure to follow us at AllEars.
