The Massive COMPLICATION That Could Ruin Your Day in Disney World

Disney World has gone digital. Okay, maybe it’s been digital for quite some time.

Scanning a park ticket

The My Disney Experience app is your one-stop shop for almost everything you might need on your trip — including your park ticket, hotel room key, and more. But, technology doesn’t always want to cooperate, and we recently ran into a pretty big problem when heading into the parks!

You’ve got your ears on, tickets on your phone, and you’re ready to start your Disney World day. But there’s just one problem — MagicMobile isn’t working on your My Disney Experience app!

MagicMobile allows guests to create a “pass” using My Disney Experience. That pass is then added to your device’s digital wallet and permits a mobile device to act as a MagicBand — or at least, that’s how it’s supposed to work.

So imagine our surprise when we arrived at the Transportation and Ticket Center to find that MagicMobile was down and not working. Cast Members were stopping people who didn’t appear to have MagicBands on so they could be given a physical ticket card instead.

Folks waiting to get cards

This appeared to cause quite the delay and backup at the TTC, though it’s probably a good thing that Cast Members were trying to fix the situation here before folks got to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT.

Keep this in mind when you’re heading into the parks — if you have a physical ticket it’s usually a good idea to bring it along with you in case something like this happens. That way, you’re able to skip the lines of people waiting to get a card and are able to just scan right in.

Don’t let this delay your plans

If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, Cast Members there are usually able to provide you with a physical card if you need it, or you can get one at Guest Relations.

Be prepared for this on your next trip to the parks and consider giving yourself some extra time before you arrive in case you have any early reservations or want to be first to get on those rides!

  1. We had a snafu with the Genie on our phones (9 people) and spent almost 2 hours of our morning at a kiosk trying to get it fixed. How I miss the way it used to be – being able to purchase an annual pass card and use the fastpass system.
