Despite all your planning efforts and the amount of time you may have put into making your Disney World vacation the best it could possibly be, the unexpected can still happen.

Sure, you can prepare for the weather by making sure you’re packed properly, and you can even try to get ahead of those long queues by buying Disney Genie+, but mishaps can occur more often than you think. We were recently heading into Magic Kingdom when we were faced with not one, but TWO transportation delays — find out why we always say you should get to Disney World early!
On a recent trip to Magic Kingdom, we parked at the Transportation and Ticket Center and headed over to catch a tram to save our feet from a bit of walking. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait too long, and we hopped on and got seated.

But shortly after we sat down, Cast Members advised that our tram was having mechanical difficulties, so another tram was sent for us and we switched over.
Once we got through security at the TTC, we started making our way over to the express monorail to head to Magic Kingdom. As we were waiting in line, we learned that the monorail was delayed due to routine maintenance!

Cast Members advised that taking the resort monorail all the way around to Magic Kingdom or taking the ferry would be the fastest routes, so we decided to take the resort monorail since we were already on the monorail platform.

All in all, it took us a whopping 43 minutes to get from our parking spot at the Transportation and Ticket Center to Magic Kingdom. This is a LONG time when it comes to your Disney World day, which is why we always recommend getting to the parks as early as possible.

Getting to the parks early can help you beat some of the crowds that trickle in later during the day, and you can read more tips about surviving Disney World crowds here. We’ve even got Disney World transportation tips that’ll make you a pro here.
If you’re heading to the parks soon, don’t forget that park pass reservations are still required — so be sure to book yours before your trip, and stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news!

For those who may not be aware of it, this is another great reason to stay on property for a Disney vacation. On site resort customers don’t even need to go thru Ticket & Trans to enter MK. Resort buses drop resort customers off close to the front entrance to MK. This doesn’t mean you can’t fall victim to delayed buses and such, but it does remove all the T&T transfer from the equation. (My apologies if I missed this pointer in the article)
The ME was the best thing ever. Drop your luggage at the airport and the next time you see it, it’s in your room. You hop on the ME to head to your hotel and the atmosphere is electric because everyone is so excited to start their vacation. I know it’s never coming back & I need to get over it. But I just can’t.
