Horror fans: the moment you’ve been waiting for has FINALLY arrived! Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights has begun.

We’ve been gearing up for this event for months as Universal slowly teased the houses, scare zones, merchandise, and food. And now, the time has come — we’re heading to Halloween Horror Nights to bring you a firsthand account of the scares, food, and more, so let’s go!
Entrance
Halloween Horror Nights runs from September 2nd to October 31st on select nights. The event begins at 6:30PM and goes until 2AM.

We started off with some scare zones! Here’s a look at what you can expect from one of these walkthrough scare zones.

There are five scare zones this year: Horrors of Halloween, Scarecrow: Cursed Soil, Sweet Revenge, Graveyard: Deadly Unrest, and Conjure the Dark. These themed scare zones all feature costumed scare actors whose main objective is to, well, scare!
Scarecrow: Cursed Soil features an abandoned farm, where “scarecrows have risen from the crust of the earth to hunt you and seek revenge.”

At Sweet Revenge, the sweets from Major Sweets’ candy company have “turned children into crazed killers.”
Graveyard: Deadly Unrest takes place on Halloween, where “a dark stork descends upon a cemetery and awakens long-dead spirits.”

Conjure the Dark takes place on the first Halloween, where an evil sorceress has summoned monsters from dark dimensions.
Finally, Horrors of Halloween is run by the Pumpkin Lord, who is the spirit of Halloween. He’s taken over the event and summoned “hordes of fiendish creatures.”

The Houses
There are ten haunted houses for Halloween Horror Nights 31, and they are:
The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare
The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare takes place at an “otherworldly rave”, and features The Weeknd’s After Hours music throughout what Universal describes as a “surreal nightmare”.

“Bandaged maniacs performing extreme plastic surgery” and “a grotesque mannequin masquerade” have been teased…we can’t wait!
Halloween
This house takes you face-to-face with Michael Meyers from the Halloween film franchise!

The theme of the house takes you back to the very beginning of Michael Meyers’ story, with a house full of scares from the iconic movie villain.
Universal Monsters: Legends Collide
The Wolf Man, Dracula, and The Mummy will face off in a battle in Universal Monsters: Legends Collide. Taking inspiration from previous Universal Monsters attractions at Halloween Horror nights, this house transports guests to the 19th century on a hunt for the Amulet of Ra.

All three monsters have a desire for the Amulet, and guests will be caught in the middle of this face-off — but only one monster will survive. We’re psyched to see how this differs from last year’s Universal Monsters house!
The Horrors of Blumhouse
A NEW house this year features a “double-feature of Blumhouse horror.” Enter a world where you’re in the midst of a frightened teenager and the serial killer she’s suddenly switched bodies with in “Freaky.”

Then, step inside “The Black Phone” where The Grabber will chase you endlessly as you desperately look for an escape route.
Spirits of the Coven
Spirits of the Coven is a witches-themed house at this year’s event.

At this house you can “enter an unsettling 1920s speakeasy” where you’ll quickly learn that you are “the main ingredient of witch’s brew.”
Bugs: Eaten Alive
This house is all about…bugs!

At this house, you’ll “face a putrid, skin-crawling infestation of spiders, roaches, flies, bees and more.”

Fiesta de Chupacabras
The chupacabra is a mythical creature whose legend comes from the folklore of the Americas.

At this Halloween Horror Nights house, you’ll have to face the “no-longer mythical” creature.
Hellblock Horror
Have you ever wondered what a prison for monsters would look like? Then you’re in luck because that’s what this house is all about.

At this house, you will “attempt to survive visiting hours for horrifying monsters serving time.”
Dead Man’s Pier: Winter’s Wake
This house is all about seeing if you have what it takes to survive a brutal winter thunderstorm in a seaside village.

And you’ll have to face the undead fisherman who rule the village, too!
Descendants of Destruction
This is the final house that will be offered at Halloween Horror Nights this year.

In this house, you will “encounter bloodthirsty mutants living in a post-apocalyptic subway system.” Quincy rated this as a 4…well, maybe 3 out of 5 scares!
