Ever since Disney Genie+ launched last year, we’ve seen a lot of changes!

More attractions have been added to the list, rules have changed, and we’ve even seen some temporary changes. Today, we got another one of those temporary updates over at EPCOT, and you’ll want to know about it if you’re trying to get on one of Disney World’s most popular rides!
For a limited time, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is available for Lightning Lane access with Genie+! Shortly after the ride opened, it was made an Individual Attraction Selection (aka a “fancy ride”), but with the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, that has changed.

Currently, several rides that were formerly in the pay-per-ride category have temporarily moved to Genie+. This change is valid until August 7th, 2022, and then they will return to their normal categories. At EPCOT, this currently affects Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, while Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind remains an Individual Attraction Selection.

Confused? Let’s break it down. If you buy Genie+ for your EPCOT visit before August 7th, you’ll get the chance to reserve Lightning Lanes for both Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. If you want to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, you’ll need to either join the virtual queue or purchase access to the Lightning Lane separately from Genie+. Starting August 7th, Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will return to being pay-per-ride selections and will not be included in Genie+. (At least that’s what we know right now!)

What makes Disney decide to do this? Is it a crowd control thing? I’m not complaining. Im just curious.
