You Would CHANGE These Magic Kingdom Rides!

When you think of Magic Kingdom, what’s the first attraction that pops into your head?

Ain’t she a beaut?

For many Disney guests and fans, it might be something like an opening-day attraction — The Haunted Mansion or Jungle Cruise. Or maybe you’ve got a more recent favorite like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or even The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Whatever Disney World ride comes to mind, one thing is for certain: Disney fans have a lot of opinions on Magic Kingdom attractions. This made us wonder which rides Disney guests would change if they had the chance, so we asked our readers!

We wanted to know which three rides in Magic Kingdom Disney guests would change if they could sprinkle some pixie dust and make it happen, so we headed over to our Facebook page and asked our readers:

If you could change three rides at Magic Kingdom, which would you choose?

The responses quickly poured in, giving us a pretty good indication that many of our readers have thought about this before. There were several attractions that a good portion of our readers agreed needed to be either upgraded or done away with completely.

Tomorrowland

One reader had a few interesting ideas, stating, “I’d change Pirates by making it longer. I’d bring back Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. It was so much fun! The Tomorrowland Speedway should be updated with electric cars that don’t stink.” If Disneyland can have a longer Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, why can’t Disney World?

Pirates of the Caribbean

There seemed to be a theme when it came to making certain rides longer, as another reader replied, “I’d make Peter Pan longer. Bulldoze Hall of Presidents. Expand Tomorrowland Transit Authority to loop with a stop in Adventureland.” Why stop at Adventureland, pal? Anyone else up for extending the PeopleMover throughout the whole park?

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

Yes, actually! Another reader chimed in and said, “Astro Orbiter. I’d make it spin the other direction. Bring back [20,000 Leagues Under the Sea]. Extend the PeopleMover throughout the entire park.

One AllEars reader wanted to replace one Adventureland attraction with… more seating! There really is a serious lack of ample seating in Magic Kingdom. Our reader responded, “Tomorrowland Speedway – get rid of it and add something less fume-y and more entertaining. Magic Carpets of Aladdin – honestly, I’d be happy if they just put tables and chairs there so I can sit and relax while I enjoy my dole whip float. Stitch is already gone – but can we put something fun in that spot to replace it please?

And finally, one very passionate AllEars reader only had one change in mind and stated, “The stupid Speedway. Not very efficient and not worth the time in line. A huge waste of valuable real estate.

Tomorrowland Speedway

It seems like quite a few of our readers think the Tomorrowland Speedway is in serious need of an overhaul. We also had some reader responses in support of changing Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Rock N Rollercoaster, and one reader already wanted to change the Moana: Journey of Water attraction being built in EPCOT! 1. Nostalgic Tomorrowland Speedway, I like the idea of remembering what we thought the future would be, as for the smell, I can live with that but if change is needed how about propane? As for the comment of “bulldozing the Hall of Presidents” please, are we not erasing enough history? I don’t agree with all the presidents but history is important and Walt must have thought so too. We tend to forget that the past forged today and if we don’t learn ALL the past we may be doomed to repeat the worst parts of it. So I believe balance is needed in the park; a little past, a little today, a dream of tomorrow and a lot of WOW!

  2. I’ve said this many times in the past. Tomorrowland Speedway could easily be updated to make it more enjoyable and more appropriate for the Tomorrowland theme.

    1. Definitely. Even if electric cars are no longer future-like, they would be a welcome addition. Unfortunately I’m sure it is a expense that Disney does not care to pony up for right now.
