PHOTOS: More Firework Testing Took Place at EPCOT Last Night!

Disney World reopened last year with additional health and safety measures due to the ongoing pandemic.

This included face mask and physical distancing requirements, the suspension of character meet and greets and shows, and even fireworks. And, while many things have returned to “normal” in Disney World already, one thing that is still missing from the parks is fireworks — but, an update could be coming soon!

Reader @findusinparadise on Instagram shared that Disney was testing fireworks at EPCOT last night ! They shared the images from reader @findusinparadise on Instagram who took them from the Speedway near Disney’s BoardWalk Resort.

She also shared that the testing was fairly sporadic and took place around midnight, but it’s still exciting to see something lighting up the Disney sky once again!

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of fireworks being testing in EPCOT though. The first report of fireworks testing in EPCOT came back in September, and there have also been some recent reports of music from EPCOT Forever (the previous fireworks display in the park) being played in the park.

We’ve also seen some testing of the new EPCOT Harmonious show barges in the center of World Showcase Lagoon during the day, including testing on the arms that will spray water displays, testing of the actual water, and even the screens. The show was originally planned to debut in Spring 2020, but the closing of the parks delayed the project.

We’ve seen the “arms” being tested on all of the barges

Disney has not shared a new date for the opening of the show, but we may be closer to fireworks returning to the parks! We will continue to keep an eye out for updates, so stay tuned to AllEars!

  1. I noticed today that the Fantasmic dining package has gone from not showing up to being below available ADRs but above the “no times available” restaurants and says “Temporarily unavailable”. It did NOT appear there yesterday.

  2. We were staying at the Riviera. We had a room that overlooked the Skyliner Station and facing Epcot. On Tuesday evening or more like Wednesday May 12th, early AM. They were playing the music from the show a little after 1am. The soundtrack lasted about 13 minutes. It did appear to be music that is Disney IP. I was surprised at how clear the sound was.
