I spent most of a week visiting most every store on Disney property looking for a cell phone charm. All I seemed to come across were the Disney Mobile charms at more than $18 each. I finally found just what I was looking for -– a keychain! The keychain had four or five cell phone loops on the ring, and each loop held a metal charm representing a different WDW park. One loop had the castle; another, Mickey's sorcerer's hat; a third had Animal Kingdom's Tree of Life; and one had Spaceship Earth. On the keychain there also were two rubber charms: a Dreams Come True tag and Sorcerer Mickey. And this keychain with six charms cost under $8! I chose to use the castle and the sorcerer's hat, then added Mickey ears, Mickey's hand, and Mickey's red pants charms that I found in the "make your own charm bracelet" collection. Each of these charms has a lobster clasp that easily attached to the metal ring on the cell phone loop from the keychain. Yes, I probably spent more than the Disney Mobile charm, but instead of one charm, I now have nine to choose from! - Vicki Stephens

Here is my new favorite tip for air travel. I hate to pay a fortune for mediocre food at the airport. So I pack a "soup cup" in my carry-on bag, along with a plastic spoon and a few crackers or snack bar. These single-serving cups of dried soup mix are available at most grocery stores and are very affordable. They take up a lot of room, but they are much easier to transport than a sandwich. On the plane, I ask for two cups of hot water, stir it into the cup of soup, and then I have a hot meal, generally much cheaper than the airport fare! I often pack a cup for the return trip as well. It's especially good if you have allergies. Warning: the quality does vary among different brands, so try several. - Audress D. Johnson

If your little ones are craving their favorite movie while on vacation, as my 2-year-old nephew (Toy Story 2) and my 5-year-old nephew (anything Power Rangers) were, bring along a portable DVD player. Many of the resort TVs have front plug-ins that will allow you to plug the DVD player to the large TV. They loved it. - Wendy J.

I wanted to tell you about traveling with Amtrak. I searched long and hard to find a little info on this mode of transportation. We thought it was great and had little trouble with the whole trip. I would do it again any time. Talking to the Happy Limo driver, he only goes to the train station maybe five times a year. We got on the train at 3:30 a.m. in Florence, SC, and went off to sleep. We woke up and we were only four hours away. The trip to and from the station was only 20 minutes to the Port Orleans French Quarter Resort. Regarding preparing the kids for Disney, this is what we're doing with our 4- and 6-year-olds: Following Super Nanny's lead, we've gone for goals. Having selected a collection of suitable rides, the kids have picked ones they would most like to go on. Now they are earning points to go on the rides (following a roller coaster track on a chart with pictures of the rides, and Disney characters trying to reach them). It seems to be working -- encouraging the kids to do their best, whilst giving them the idea that we aren't going quite yet -- got to get those points first! - Liz

We would write messages to each other with the time and place we could be found. It actually became a fun game, as we got into giving clues to the names of the slides and rides. Before our recent annual family trip to Walt Disney World, our daughter and son-in-law built even greater happy anticipation in their 6- and 4-year-olds. Each evening, two of the children's cherished stuffed Disney characters would magically appear someplace in the house other than the children's bedrooms. Each character would be sitting on two one-dollar bills for the coming trip. So, there were one-dollar bills for the children and one each for Mommy and Daddy. One night, the characters had instructions for a treasure hunt. In the end, two of the dollar bills were found in the collar of Gus, their Golden Retriever. One was in Grandpa's pocket, and one was in Granny's pocket. This was done for the month before the trip, along with a special calendar on which the children crossed off one day every night. - Diane Schmitz

It can become cumbersome to search all the various airlines to compare the best prices. Go to www.kayak.com, as this search engine includes the regional airlines as well (JetBlue, Southwest, etc.). It lists all the flight options and then indicates who has the price including travel sites like Cheap Seats and Expedia. - C. Kiki Leech

For all WDW visitors from the UK -- try to find jet-setting friends who will bring you home US coins, quarters especially, because when you land at Orlando they're jolly useful for tolls. Last week, before I left on my latest WDW trip, I Googled for information about that new bypass (Highway 9A, future I-295) around Jacksonville, FL. I wasn't sure if it was open, driveable, or worth doing... Well, darned if I didn't find any clear information about it, other than that both ends do connect to I-95 and it's nearly complete. So I decided to take a chance on the drive down and check it out. I am happy to report that the 9A bypass is a great timesaver and absolutely worth doing to avoid downtown Jacksonville. Clear sailing, little traffic in the off-hours (don't know about rush hour), and only took us about 20-25 minutes. There is also a big, beautiful suspension bridge to enjoy. It's not completely converted over to interstate yet -- there is still one traffic light interchange left -- but it's not bad at all! And as soon as that's converted over to an exit, I believe it will become I-295 and be even faster. - Eve Cunning

Our standard black roll-on and carry-on suitcases were just like everyone's, and were hard to spot until I took some fabric paint and a large dog pawprint stamp and added bright yellow pawprints all over my suitcases. You could use any large simple stamp and a bright color to personalize your luggage. When my luggage comes down the carousel I sure get a lot of comments, and have no trouble picking out which is mine. - Merrily Westlake
