Tips about Epcot, Food & Beverage, Magic Kingdom, Resorts, Souvenirs and Transportation

Recently in June, me and my family stayed at the Polynesian. We wanted to Rope Drop Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. We decided to book a Minnie Van! The Minnie Van was a great experience, and we got to EPCOT really fast too! We were dropped off right next to France. By the time we got to RRA, it was only a 40 minute wait, which is very good for this ride, considering that it mostly has a wait way over an hour! And it turns out, the actual wait time was 24 minutes! When we got off, it was 75!

Early entry/rope drop for Frozen or Remy's is nice but be aware that the rest of World Showcase doesn't open until later morning. So plan that you will need to go to the front of the park for things to do until later morning. I had planned to tour the pavilions & gift shops but very few were open until later and by that time it was raining.

I recently returned from Walt Disney World and was at Animal Kingdom on a very hot and busy Saturday at lunchtime. I kept finding long lines of people standing in the sun waiting to place orders. Not wanting to wait in one of these lines, I decided to try Mobile Ordering. It was beyond easy and I am not savvy with electronics. If you ever made reservations on My Disney Experience then they have your credit card on file. The menus are easy to see, but what was even better was I placed my order and a few minutes later I walked into Satu'li Canteen and got my order in two minutes -- no waiting in a long line and blaring sun. I am sold on this now. - Bonnie L.

No room for your refillable mug in your suitcase? Clean it out and put small gift items (or even clothing) inside to save room. - Kristy B.

I'm planning a trip to Disney's Aulani, and I just learned that they now have the Daily 'Iwa, Aulani's daily activity schedule (sort of like the Disney Cruise Line's Navigator) online. This is a great way to try to plan your stay with all of the activities that are offered around the resort. The Daily 'Iwa shows events for the next 10 days, so check it just before your trip! You can find it HERE. - Debbie

While the bus depot at Disney's Hollywood Studios is under construction for Disney Skyliner, consider taking the boat to the Studios if you're coming from Epcot. It will drop you a little closer to the park entrance. You can take a boat from three other spots as well: Disney's Boardwalk, the Yacht and Beach Club and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. - Brian L.

Just returned from a trip to Disney World. We had a wonderful time celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. I would like to let everyone know that when traveling to Disney's Hollywood Studios by bus, you are now dropped off a loooong distance from the main entrance due to the construction of the Skyliner. If you have any issues with walking please be aware of this. I had hurt my knee before the trip and the additional walk really took its toll. - Karen D.

EDITOR'S NOTE: We've heard from several of you recently mentioning the same thing, and we experienced it ourselves a few weeks ago. We don't know how long this situation will exist, but for the time being, be advised that the bus stops are quite a long distance from the park's main entrance!

Just recently stayed at the All-Star Movies Resort in a refurbished room. They have a hard surface flooring now instead of carpet. You might want to bring slippers as the floor gets cold! - Alan G

Use your leftover dining plan snack credits to buy gifts for friends at home! Goofy's Candy bags are often one snack credit. Same goes for candy apples and rice krispie treats! - Kristy
EDITOR'S NOTE: If you're flying, though, keep in mind that TSA at the Orlando airport may ask you to take out all food items from your carry-on bags for examination when you pass through the security line.

Make sure you tip your servers for good service in the restaurants! Even if you are from a country that doesn't use a tipping system, you should tip here. The tip is NOT built into the price of the food. There is nothing more frustrating for a server than to give good service, see that the guests enjoy the food and service, and then not get a tip! - Joanne C.

My niece reserved breakfast at Tusker House for 10:45 a.m. She realized that we could take advantage of early FastPasses and have more available later, PLUS breakfast starts to turn into lunch a little after 11 a.m. so we had the best of all worlds. - Helen F.
My niece made a breakfast reservation at Askerhus in Norway for 9:15 a.m. We were sent to a special queue to check in and entered before the park opened at 9. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were told we could go on the Frozen ride before everyone else got there. It was fantastic! - Helen Friedlander

I always loved purchasing the antenna toppers -- I must have at least 50 for all the seasons. But our cars no longer have antennas. So I found a new use for them. I purchased a package of inexpensive pens and put them into the toppers. Presto! A cute Disney pen for every season. - Barb Carpenter

Save yourself and others time going through park security by bringing in a drawstring backpack instead of a backpack with multiple zippers. Security tends to look into every zipped compartment, including things like zipped camera bags, sunglasses cases and cosmetic bags within the backpack or purse. Use clear, zipper-top bags for storing smaller items. - Sarah Zwickey
