We might still be mourning the loss of our beloved Muppets Courtyard, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t be excited about the new Monsters, Inc. Land, right? We will never forget Muppets Courtyard, but we spotted some new details about the new land that are getting us more excited about the future.

We are also happy to know that the Muppets won’t be gone from Disney’s Hollywood Studios forever, as they will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster beginning next year! We will be rocking to The Muppets and enjoying Monstropolis at the same time in a few years.
The agenda for the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District meeting on October 24th includes a few more details about construction for the new Monsters, Inc. Land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Part of the agenda for the meeting includes a “Developer Agreement for Construction of Electrical Infrastructure to Service Project L.” During the meeting, the Board of Supervisors will vote on whether to approve the agreement, with staff recommending approval.

What exactly is the agreement, and what does it have to do with the Monsters, Inc. Land? While we don’t have official confirmation, it is very likely that “Project L” refers to the new Monsters, Inc. Land. Based on the included image in the developer agreement, the electrical infrastructure appears to be related to the new Monsters, Inc. coaster that is under construction. We have seen aerial photos of the staging area for the show building for this new attraction, and the overlay on the included images matches what we have seen.

The area above the road running horizontally across the image is the current lot for Cast Member parking at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Currently, this is where workers are actively working on what appears to be a building for the new suspended coaster. The photo below is from Bioreconstruct in July.

The utility project includes an electric service yard, an underground duct bank, and a directional drill system. This electrical infrastructure project is necessary to support Project L and to provide electric service. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts will “design, permit, and construct the portion of the utility project at its sole expense, with no financial contribution from the District”. Upon completion and District approval, the “infrastructure will be transferred to the District for ownership, operation, and maintenance.”

The map shows the location of the electrical infrastructure and appears to be a faint outline of what looks like the outline of the new roller coaster. The outline matches the shape of the pad we could see in the aerial photos in July! It is faint, but it is there!

While the agreement doesn’t contain much super exciting intel about the new Monsters, Inc. Land, it is still exciting to see progress being made! A brand-new land, including a new coaster, is a big undertaking, and Disney is already hard at work preparing the area to support it. The new roller coaster will be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster attraction, and we are so excited for it!

The coaster is inspired by the door scene in the movie, where the claws grab the doors and hoist them into the air. We have gotten a few peeks at the roller coaster and a look at some of the ride mechanisms at the SXSW Conference. Let’s just say that it is going to be a unique experience!

Of course, we will keep our eyes and ears peeled for more updates on this new Hollywood Studios Land. So make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for any updates and all of your Disney news!
