Disney’s Hollywood Studios will look DIFFERENT tomorrow!

Disney World is no stranger to change by now, with lots of exciting projects already underway. We can see evidence of these new lands, re-themed areas, and more in several of Disney World’s parks. But one of the newest changes to be announced recently has yet to begin, and you’re running out of time to see it before it’s removed forever.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is undergoing massive construction at the moment. Just take a stroll around the park, and you won’t have to look very far to find the entire former Muppet Courtyard in the middle of a massive re-theming to become a new land themed to Monsters, Inc.

And suppose you continue your way around the park. In that case, Toy Story Land (which is ironically the newest land of the park) is also undergoing construction with a recently built shaded area for Woody’s Lunch Box’s outdoor seating at the popular quick service restaurant. You might even pass a few construction walls surrounding a former photo op and sign that’s rumored to become a permanent snack stand.

But if you’re visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios after TODAY, you’ll miss your final chance to see Animation Courtyard as it currently stands. This includes its current offerings like the Disney Jr. Play and Dance!, character meet and greets, and even the Star Wars Launch Bay area.

Yep, starting on September 25th, these experiences will be closed to make way for ANOTHER land project Disney’s embarking on soon. Animation Courtyard will be redesigned into The Walt Disney Studios, themed after the real-life studio that resides in California.
This new area will bring with it The Magic of Disney Animation, where you can learn more about the animation process and how animators bring your favorite Disney characters to life, a new playground for toddlers and small children with a Mary Blair-inspired Alice in Wonderland theme called Drawn to Wonderland playground, and more.

While Disney hasn’t specifically stated what is to become of the existing characters you can currently meet from the Disney Jr. pals to Star Wars, they have hinted on their website that the exclusive Disney Visa cardholder photo op may be returning in the future. Once Star Wars Launch Bay shuts down, you’ll still be able to meet a handful of Star Wars characters while visiting Galaxy’s Edge.

Disney has also confirmed that its newest show, The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure, will stay open during the area’s retheming. Hopefully, this means we’ll be able to continue to keep an eye on its progress as things start to move along!

So if you’re looking to get in those last few dances and hugs, today’s your last day to do so! We’ll be out to show you how different the area looks with these experiences closed, so be sure to check back in with us soon!

I will absolutely miss the animation courtyard. My ultimate favorite Character “Doc McStuffins” is the reason why Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is my Happy Place.
